E3 2021: First look at Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy game

Here’s our first look at the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game from Square Enix as announced at E3 2021!

Let me stop you with the negative comments because this game not only looks good but it also promises to do away with microtransactions unlike Square’s Avengers AAA game from a year or so ago.

Also mind you this was the same game that was leaked back in 2017 from Eidos and will be ready for release October 2021 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

According to the game’s developers, the game won’t just be getting ideas and looks from the Marvel Studios movie which depicts Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as Rocket and Groot. The game will also be getting some inspiration from the many iterations and volumes of the GOTG comics. This is also the reason why the game’s version of Star-Lord looks different from the movies. The folks at Eidos-Montreal also reveals that the story is guaranteed new where the heroes are “hired accidentally to do a job that leads to a big catalclysm.

While the players will be directly controlling Star-Lord, they can also do strategic moves and even control all the Guardians all at once. There’s even the possibility of combining abilities ala Ultimate Alliance. So in essence, its an action game with “tactical elements”.

In terms of narrative, there wil be the whole “choice and consequence” scenario where players actions could have effects on the overall playthrough though they are quick to confirm that the ending will be the same.

The team licensed 30 songs from the ’80s, everything from Iron Maiden to New Kids on the Block to KISS, Rick Astley, and Joan Jett.
