Netflix’s Lauren Hissrich Reveals Spinoff Series – The Witcher: Blood Origin
While we’re busy waiting for The Witcher season 2 starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Netflix has pretty much confirmed that there would be a spinoff series that would also be created called The Witcher: Blood Origin.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich together with Declan de Barra had recently revealed that the new series will star the first Witcher in this world and set “1200 years before Geralt of Rivia”.
They don’t have an official release date yet or even a cast to speak off but I’m willing to bet that they would weave between this origin series and the main series to continue the hype for the series. So this would give one series ample time to do production and prepare for marketing.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they managed to do a filler episode or two where Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia somehow winds up in the past and meets with whoever they pick to be the first Witcher for “Blood Origin”.
Speaking of origin, one big plot for this spinoff series is explaining why there are all sorts of monsters living in the world. So a big plot for this would be the so-called “Conjunction of Spheres“.
Maybe we can also get some explanation of why Ciri’s so powerful and why in the future the elven hunters called The Wild Hunt wanted her power for themselves.
