Here’s the updated The Batman release date plus other DC Projects like Shazam 2, The Suicide Squad and The Flash

The entertainment industry is one of the industries that got hit badly by the recent COVID-19 pandemic and we could see by the number of movies and TV series thatt have been shelved or massively delayed. We now that Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed back to later this year but did you know that projects like Matt Reeves’ The Batman has also been pushed back?

Here’s a rundown of the new release dates for several DC Comics/ Warner Bros Pictures films plus their original release date.

The Batman

While they have already started production for The Batman with London becoming part of Gotham City for one scene, it looks like the film’s production is currently on hiatus due to the coronavirus. The original release date for this new Batman movie was June 25 2021 but has now been moved to October 1, 2021.

The Suicide Squad

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad’s release date on the other hand would be August 6, 2021 and will bring back some of the big stars from the David Ayer film like Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis and more together with some new cast members like John Cena and Idris Elba.

Shazam 2

In a recent interview, its been revealed that New Line Cinema plans to release Shazam 2 on November 2022 instead of April 2, 2022. I hear that the first film’s director, David Sandberg will return to bring the Mightiest Mortal aka the Big Red Cheese to life once more. The film is slated to bring back most of the cast including Zachary Levi as Shazam and Asher Angel as Billy Batson.

Aquaman 2

Like Shazam 2, nobody wants to give final dates for this project. What was long rumored was that the Aquaman 2 release date would be December 16 2022, almost four years to the date when the original movie was released. The first ‘Aquaman’ movie was released December 18 2018 and was directed by James Wan and starred Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson. This one still has no real wheels yet because if you take a look at the new schedule, it will be release a month after Shazam 2. But who knows, remember Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were released a month apart more than a decade ago.

The Flash

If there’s any DC superhero that went the opposite way in terms of release dates, it would have to be the long-delayed The Flash movie which still tentatively stars Ezra Miller despite the recent controversy. The original release date for the film was July 2022 but has since been bumped a month earlier to June 2022. No reason why. Maybe Warner and friends just plan to indulge us with as much comic book movies as possible.
