WWE Releases Kurt Angle, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Curtis Hawkins, Heath Slater, EC3 and more
The official website of WWE has announced a fresh batch of WWE Superstars that’s been released allegedly due to the company’s cost-cutting measures amidst the COVID-19 pandemic including Hall of Famer and Olympic medalist Kurt Angle!
Angle “officially” wrestled his last match in WrestleMania 35 last year where he wrestled against Baron Corbin. After his in-ring appearance and his short stint as RAW General Manager, Angle worked in the backstage as a producer where he helps out with other superstars doing matches for house shows and taped TV shows.
It’s really sad that these guys are getting axed especially if you’re aware that is that superstars can be considered “freelancers”. If you’re a big star like John Cena, you can definitely get a set amount of cash annually. If you’re a mid-carder that would have to mean you need to join the touring of the WWE for shows around the country and the world.
Here’s what was written on the WWE website:
WWE has come to terms on the release of Kurt Angle, Drake Maverick (James Curtin), Curt Hawkins (Brian Myers), Karl Anderson (Chad Allegra), Luke Gallows (Drew Hankinson), Heath Slater (Heath Miller), Eric Young (Jeremy Fritz), EC3 (Michael Hutter), Aiden English (Matthew Rehwoldt) and Lio Rush (Lionel Green). We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
I remember EC3 won the 24/7 Championship here in the Smackdown Live show in Manila months ago. Meanwhile Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were involved in the Boneyard Match between AJ Styles and Undertaker in Wrestlemania 36.
