Rey Skywalker is the daughter of a failed Palpatine Clone according to the novels
More Star Wars shenanigans as there have been outcry from fans over some details from the novel of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that never made it to the movie and that’s got something to do with Rey aka Rey Skywalker.
According to the story The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Edition (Star Wars) which will be hitting stores March 17, there’s a bit there where its revealed that Rey’s father is actually a clone of Emperor Palpatine. A failed clone who went about in the world and met a woman and had a child with the said woman. That in turn is Rey who was left behind and meets with Finn during the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Expanded Edition) was written by Rae Carson. He wrote:
In the darkness of the Sith planet, Kylo Ren finds the cloning tubes, full of strange and distorted visions of humanoid creatures. “He’d seen this apparatus before, too, when he’d studied the Clone Wars as a boy,” reads the novel.
“The liquid flowing into the living nightmare before him was fighting a losing battle to sustain the Emperor’s putrid flesh,” wrote Carson. “Kylo could feel in his very bones that this clone body sheltered the Emperor’s actual spirit. It was an imperfect vessel, though, unable to contain his immense power. It couldn’t last much longer.”
This could imply and confirm that Palpatine had used the technology from Clone Wars and “Attack of the Clones” to help him go beyond death, which was what exactly happened to him at the climax of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. What’s surprising though is what reports suggest that later in the expanded novel, its mentioned that Rey’s father was a clone.
This doesn’t really make Rey Skywalker the granddaughter of the Emperor aka Darth Sidious; but rather a daughter.
