HBO Developing New Series based on Asunda series from Stranger Comics
With the impending ending of Game of Thrones this year, HBO. Is looking to fill the gap for the fantasy series that fans can get behind on and that could be in the form of the girl Niobe from the Asunda comics line published by Stranger Comics.
The Asunda books have the fantasy element with a world very similar to Westeros.
According to Deadline, the planned series for Asunda will revolve around young orphan girl Niobe who is on the path to become the world’s messiah through some form of magic.
Niobe also has a convenient secret, she’s the daughter of a long exiled king and a mother with near shamanesque powers and connections.
The Asunda series will have series creator Sebastian A. Jones as showrunner. Jones has also overseen the development of Niobe as a character with several comic book minis starring the character including titles like Niobe: She Is Life and Niobe: She Is Death.
Again, by tapping this franchise, HBO is hoping to replicate the success that they have garnered with George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones books.
No word on release date yet from HBO.
