Heroes in Crisis # 1 Spoilers – The Dead
Here’s the rundown of big name heroes who were murdered at the start of the DC Comics’ new event book Heroes in Crisis. The book was written by Tom King with art by Clay Mann. They also have a few neat covers for this issue.
So the issue is pretty much a standard whodunit with the trinity (that’s Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman to you and me) hurriedly going to the place called Sanctuary.
Sanctuary according to backstories, is a rest house, so to speak, for heroes who are undergoing treatment for trauma. It’s like a place where heroes get treated for their PTSD or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This initiative was done by the three and had been treating a number of heroes including Booster Gold (who went batshit insane after giving his “gift” to Batman) and Harley Quinn who also underwent stress after Poison Ivy took over the world (still in the pages of King’s current Batman run).
So going back, Superman is the first to arrive and he already sees the carnage that had ensued.
He confirms the deaths of several heroes including Citizen Steel (from the JSA remember him?) and what looks to be Lagoon Boy (I may be wrong). There’s also this character called Hot Spot who is introduced a few pages prior to the page you’ll see below.
It’s through Superman’s eyes that we see how many people are dead in this violent outburst.
Holy fucking shit, they just killed Wally West aka Flash and Roy Harper aka Arsenal. Two of the founding members of the Teen Titans.
God.
Why?
The scene of the crime also had something inscribed in the walls referring to a “puddler”. Something that Diana explains to Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent.
But don’t worry though as its revealed that Booster Gold and Harley Quinn made it out alive. And they suddenly became persons of interest in this crime.
It’s a shock-value, entertainment thing for Heroes in Crisis # 1 and I definitely want to do a review for this.
