That Final Page of Batman # 50 Brings Doubt into the Events of #Batrimony
This week’s Batman # 50 reveals that there’s something working in the shadows against Batman and Catwoman which ultimately led to the shocking end of the issue as well as the end of #Batrimony.
Spoiler Alert is in full effect.
A bit of context.
Holly Robinson was set “free” by Catwoman with the idea that she’ll be Selina Kyle’s maid of honor. If you remember, she was rescued by Batman and Catwoman from the thrall of Talia Al Ghul. Throughout the issue, Holly and Seline discuss about the pros and cons of marrying the Dark Knight.
During the drive to the wedding, one discussion made Catwoman think of the repercussions of her actions.
In the final pages of the issue, this scene unfolds.
Holy shit. These are all the major characters and antagonists from all the previous major story arcs done by King in his run as writer for the main Batman book.
Riddler and The Joker’s War of Jokes and Riddles was the impetus for Bruce Wayne’s proposal and is one of Batman’s darker secrets.
Gotham Girl was one half of the duo that Batman aimed to save in the opening story arc for the Batman books under the DC Rebirth era. Her brother didn’t make it but Batman made sure that she recovered from the stress of the ending of her story arc, even going as far as stealing Psycho Pirate from the clutches of Bane with his own “Suicide Squad” which also brought in Catwoman into the fold.
Hugo Strange is there because he’s a master manipulator and remember the new Monster Men that attacked Gotham City.
Well, this was definitely a big surprise by the end of Batman # 50 and seeing Bane here, revealed as the mastermind behind everything is a great way to usher in 50 more issues of Batman stories under the watchful eye of Tom King.
