MANILA, June 11, 2018 — Dinosaurs rose and records fell as Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opened at No.1 in the Philippines, amassing an extinction-proof P213.8-million opening weekend gross in five days (June 6 – June 10).
Clearly a box-office winner despite the rainy weather, the J.A. Bayona-helmed sequel to the 2015 classic franchise reboot registered Universal Pictures’ second biggest opening weekend of all time, (behind its predecessor, Jurassic World, which was released over a 3-day Independence day weekend).
The film’s opening day gross of P38-M also broke the record for the biggest non-holiday opening day for a Universal title; and the biggest opening day for Jurassic Park/World franchise.
The Chris Pratt-starrer is predicted to continue enjoying robust box-office receipts as more fans are expected to troop to the cinemas when the rain stops and the due to the holidays.
Internationally, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom bowed in 48 foreign markets and is looking at an estimated full weekend opening of $151.1-million worldwide.
Currently, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has scored the fifth-biggest international opening weekend of 2018.
