First Look at Tom Welling on Lucifer Season 3
DC has always been a home to TV star Tom Welling. It’s been his home for more than a decade doing his role as Clark Kent in Smallville and now he’s back with a new role in the ongoing series Lucifer.
So while he did turn down the role of Superman in CW’s Supergirl partly because he wants to distance himself from the DC icon, he’s not closing doors for DC anytime soon. In fact, Entertainment Weekly has two photos showing Welling as a new character in Lucifer season 3.
Welling will play the role of police lieutenant Marcus Pierce, a potential romantic interest for Lauren German’s Decker and a rival for Tom Ellis’ Lucifer. He’s described as a strategic and charismatic cop who works as foil to the duo.
Lucifer’s co-showrunner Joe Henderson says:
When Decker first meets Marcus Pierce, he is very much someone that rubs her the wrong way, because he’s very much a no-nonsense, calling-it-like-it-is guy, and he’s not much for social mores, if you will. But what’s interesting is he also represents a lot of truth and justice and very much a lot of the things that draw Chloe to the side of law. So Pierce is very much the exact opposite of Lucifer, but also very similar, and so that duality is a big reason for them to start coming together.
Lucifer will return Monday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
