Finally Found Someone Review
Here’s my Finally Found Someone review starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz. Directed by Theodore Boborol. Special thanks to OPPO for the screening passes!
Doing this Finally Found Someone review in tagalog-English if you don’t mind.
Mga bes! Sarah and Lloydie are back for a new movie and a new story after three movies featuring Laida and Miggy. Finally Found Someone is a “new” love story with the same chemistry and the same kilig. Its also the same old stuff dressed with new clothes and a fancy gimmick here and there.
The pair plays Raffy and Aprilyn respectively, in a story about love, honesty, moving on and forgiveness.
Maganda yung movie in fairness. Its very formulaic but it hits all the sweet spots. Medyo tried and tested rin yung narrative because this story has been done. In fact Sarah’s starred in a movie where she’s the PR person opppsite Coco Martin in Maybe This Time.
In this movie however she’s the one getting external help. Sya yung may kailangan ng tulong after siyang iwanan ng groom nya. #ChosBride. John Lloyd is Raffy here, the guy given an assignment to clean up the groom’s image by helping out Sarah’s character April.
Lungkot Kembot
Malungkot lang for a few reasons. May pagka dragging ng konti yung film. Medyo contrived ang plot lalo na sa third act especially with Dennis Padilla and Enchong Dee’s subplot. Pero dahil I worked for a short while for PR agency, I know that what happened to John Lloyd CAN and HAS happened in my experience lalo na when dealing with politicians.
Anyway, na-badtrip din ako sa irritating use of the term “Social Media Influencer”. Parang, chong naman, di naman influencers yung dalawang bagets. P.A. sila. PERSONAL ASSISTANTS. Nakakainis lang yung writing sa part na yun, kasi they wanted to sound “trendy” and “hip” di naman sakto.
Malungkot ako dahil nag-stick sila sa same formula from the past three movies na ginawa nila Sarah and John Lloyd. Same composition, same effect and same kilig. Kung maghahanap kayo ng fresh in this aspect, unahan ko na kayo, lower thy expectations. If madali ka rin ma-bore, heads up din dahil may mga moments na ganun.
Sakto lang ang supporting cast here. Nothing really noteworthy and again ibabalik ko nanaman yung absurdity ng paggamit ng term na “social media influencer” sa P.A.
Wala Sa Menu (Actually Nasa Menu)
Expect tons of kilig in this movie especially since talagang may chemistry yung dalawa. Nag-mature na sila physically pero aesthetically pleasing parin. My wife pointed out na medyo pumayat si Sarah and yes I agree. Meron ding moments na na-channel ni Sarah G. yung look and vibe nung teenager pa sya at kakapanalo palang nya dun sa singing contest nya.
JLC is JLC. Best damn actor of his generation. Kaya pa rin nya magpaiyak kahit ang sinasabi lang nya eh napapagod na sya. Ayaw na nya. Gusto na nyang maging totoo sa sarili nya. Yun lang pero yung moment na yun, madadala ka parin. At the same time, I can count the number of times na kinilig yung buong sinehan with the way he looks at his co-star and to the camera. I swear may beking tumili din in one of those moments.
The chemistry is there. There are great moments (a lot actually) tapos the rapport between the two main stars is natural. I can honestly say na parang naglalaro lang sila…. or naghaharutan. Which is ok.
As for the theme and the plot. Mediocre to “sakto lang”. I still would pick It Takes a Man and a Woman parin ang THE BEST movie of this pairing. Had we not seen all previous three films, I would make this my main movie.
Closing Statement
For this Finally Found Someone review, I’m giving this positive marks. Highly recommended ko to mostly because I have a bias for the pairing of John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. Forgivable for me ang story and the plot and some moments because of the “hatak” alone made by the main stars. Sorry din dear readers for I’m a huge fan of these two whenever they do movies, so high marks talaga.
