Our Favorite Slipknot Scene from Suicide Squad
Slipknot was an unsung hero in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Sure he bit the bullet early on but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t have one of the most glorious deaths comparable only to the film adaptation of Battle Royale. Well mostly because of the bomb in the neck.
Slipknot in the movie version for the DC Expanded Universe was part of the initial team that Rick Flag brought in to…
Spoiler Alert
… rescue Amanda Waller in Midway City.
And let me tell you it did not end well for the man who can climb anything. Because after getting duped by Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, Slipknot’s head went boom.
But did you know that that scene involving Captain Boomerang and Slipknot was lifted from an actual issue of Suicide Squad?
Below you’ll find the actual pages and see how much a manipulative bastard comic book Digger Harkness is. Take note that they dont have exploding collars at this point but rather exploding bracelets.
In the film, Katana stops Boomerang just in the nick of time but nobody from Rick Flagg’s team got to Slipknot. Joel Kinnaman had no choice but to make things go boom.
In the comic book version, things went a little different.
Of course at this point he’s pretty useless because he won’t be able to make ummm… knots.
Wait, so why did they add in Slipknot in the movie version again if the goal was to just rescue Amanda Waller and not really to neutralize June Moon aka Enchantress?
Bah who cares? Read my review of Suicide Squad by the way.
