Why Darth Vader’s Appearance in Rogue One Trailer was a Big Deal
Darth Vader is in Rogue One. Let that sink in your mind, have it percolate a bit and now lets discuss why that’s a big thing.
Darth Vader appearing in the film means that we are looking at one of the best eras in the Star Wars saga, the time when good is about to emerge and when evil reigns supreme. Cutting the metaphysical crap however, its that point in Star Wars we know and love. Its the original trilogy period when Anakin has become Darth Vader, and has stored away his memories of Padme Amidala, his wife.
It’s the first time in a couple of years that we’ll be seeing a live-action version of Darth Vader cut down people and generally be the cinematic badass that he is. To be specific, its been 11 years since Vader appeared in the big screen (alive and un-well) and that was during Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Thats really the reason why the dude’s short appearance in the film was a big treat for fans. We haven’t seen him for awhile and hopefully he gets to ignite his furious red lightsaber and cut down one or two enemies.
The rumor I heard was that he would be making an appearance to sort of remind the Imperial characters who have dealt with Jayne Erso (Felicity Jones) and her crew the gravity of their mistake… which was really letting the plans for the Death Star get transmitted. Of course we know how that would end, which kickstarts the original trilogy starting with Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
In fact, I’m calling it now, Darth Vader’s appearance would probably happen at the end and he also takes hold of the situation by leading the intercepting team, which ends up in Princess Leia’s ship.
Catch Darth Vader, Jayne Erso and a whole lot more when the Star Wars movie entitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters December 15 from Walt Disney Studios Philippines.
