SDCC 2016 – Sia Joins the Cast of My Little Pony: The Movie
What the hell? I didn’t even know that there was a My Little Pony: The Movie project being developed and they have multi-awarded singer and songwriter Sia in the cast too!
Lionsgate together with Hasbro has managed to snag Sia for the film where she will be voicing the pop star pony named Songbird Serenade. Sia will not only voice a character but will also contribute two songs to the film’s OST (original soundtrack).
The casting for Sia happened during this year’s Comic Con or SDCC 2012.
Other cast members who will be lending their voices for the MLP movie include Liev Schreiber, Taye Diggs, Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Uzo Aduba and Michael Pena. The film will be directed by Jayson Thiessen and will be working on a screenplay developed by My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic alum Meghan McCarthy.
My Little Pony: The Movie tells the story of the “Mane 6” going on an epic journey to “meet new friends and challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.” It will feature the fan-favorite characters including Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity.
Lionsgate is releasing “My Little Pony” on Oct. 6, 2017.
