More Scenes from Toycon x FanXperience 2016 with Dean Cain and Kristian Nairm
One week after the hyper successful event and we still can’t get over how amazing Toycon 2016 was. Sure there were a few flubs here and there (trust me I know) but you cannot deny how great this more-than-a-decade event is. Here now are more photos from the event as caught by photographer and #teamfanboy contributor Leo Vincent Corpuz.
First, we take a look at the scenes during the public presscon that Friday afternoon. Of course everybody was psyched to see Kristian Nairn aka Hodor from the hit TV show Game of Thrones.
The dude is huge; massive even. But he was friendly, obviously loved the warm greetings from Filipino fans and even better was the fact that he was seated on the iron throne.
Next on the list is former Superman and host of Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Dean Cain.
After all these years, Dean Cain still looks ‘guapo’ as ever and also Hillary is such a hottie.
Next on the stage was Daniel Logan who shared his experience playing the younger version of fan-favorite Star Wars character Boba Fett for the prequel trilogy.
Even cooler is the fact that he did his presscon/ panel with some of the amazing people from the 501st Philippines team.
He really did wanted to be close with the audience so he went from this…
… to this.
Of course, Toycon isn’t always about guests, its about TOYS! And boy did they not disappoint in that aspect. They set up various areas to exhibit all sorts of toys from artsy vinyls…
… to hybrid Star Wars vehicles…
… to anything in between.
Toycon 2016 Day 1 definitely proved that there’s really something for everyone for in this annual event.
Also since this was Day 1, we didn’t see Voltes V, which kinda sucked because we were all looking forward to that. We did get the legs and feet if its any consolation.
There were also other Voltes V related displays in the area so that kinda filled up the void.
2016 is also the year of Funko and Funko Pop Vinyls and event partner Poplife / Mindstyle threw in all the best they can offer for their side including a very special Stan Lee gallery.
They also littered the place (in a good way) with all sorts of oversized Funko Pop figures including the Hulkbuster from Avengers: Age of Ultron…
We also had Elsa and Anna from Frozen:
Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy:
The Minions from Despicable Me 2 and The Minions movie:
Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma from Star Wars was also there.
And even Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang had an area specifically for them.
Of course this wouldn’t be Toycon without the Collector’s area where various Toy Groups displayed their collections for the world to see.
Other notable places to check out since Day 1 includes the Encantadia area for the much-awaited Fantaserye on GMA…
The PLDT / iFlix Booth
The much-maligned and very overpriced Bankee/ Gundam area with Barbatos Gundam in tow.
Our dear friends from Warner Bros. Pictures also sent over the Squad to oversee things; the Suicide Squad that is.
Before we cap things off for this post, here’s something to ponder on. Regardless of where you put Toycon, because its an institution already, there will always be a thick crowd in the exhibitor area/ seller area. Be it SM Megamall or SM Mall of Asia’s SMX Convention Center, there will always be a huge crowd in that area and that’s something you can bank on.
Stay tuned for more stories from Toycon 2016, hopefully we get collate all the cosplayer photos from that event.
