Two Trailers in and Kubo and the Two Strings Looks Like a Winner
The second trailer for the Laika-produced animated film Kubo and the Two Strings has been released and I can confidently say that this looks like a winner.
This movie is so under-the-radar but it looks great that I had to post something about it. So yeah, two trailers in and I’m convinced that this could be a second best movie for 2016 after Zootopia. It’ll definitely cater to hardcore otakus, fans of Japanese culture and weeabos in the Metro.
Watch trailer two below and trailer one after that.
It’s like every trailer gets better and better. And they also retained what was truly catchy, a shamisen cover of George Harrison/ The Beatles’ ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’.
That was awesome!
Anyway, what makes Kubo and the Two Strings a winner as early as now are the following:
- Exotic locales
- Freshly designed monsters
- Eye-patched emo hero
- Bad-ass monkey guardian
- Silly but strong tank character
- Scary and beautiful ghost ladies
and last on the list, the cast.
The cast is a mix of old and new actors including Charlize Theron as the Monkey, Rooney Mara as the Sisters, Matthew McConaughey as Beetle, Ralph Fiennes as Raiden/ Moon King, Art Parkinson as Kubo, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Akihiro and George Takei as Hosato.
