Doubutsu Sentai Zyouhger Episode 1
Doubutsu Sentai Zyouhger Episode 1! I’m finally doing a recap/spoiler/review for all episodes of Zyouhger.
The series stars Masaki Nakao as Yamato aka Zyouh Eagle, Miki Yanagi as Sela aka Zyouh Shark, Shohei Nanba as Leo aka Zyouh Lion, Tsurugi Watanabe as Tusk aka Zyouh Elephant and Haruka Tateishi as Amu aka Zyouh Tiger.
Zyougher Episode 1 Recap
Episode 1 is highly entertaining. We get an introduction of Zyuland as well as Earth as well as to protagonist Yamato. We get nary a hint of backstory for the first half of the episode but we do get to meet Yamato’s kooky uncle who dresses as a seal this episode. One wrong move though completely alters Yamato’s destiny and he gets ported to Zyuland, meets his future team. Gets interrogated for awhile then returns to his world with the four “guardians” just as the series baddies, the Deathgaliens, attack the forest where the Cube and Yamato’s students hang around.
The Champion cube gets broken apart, the guardians get their cube/ stones and transform into Zyouhgers while Yamato watches. He helps but is promptly beaten. His Champion stone transforms into the morpher, becomes Zyouh Eagle and they defeat the Deathgalien of the week.
The team calls in their mechs, mechs transform into Zyouhking and defeat the villian. By the end of the episode the Zyuland guardians get their human faces thanks to the Zyouh Changers but Tusk says he doesn’t trust Yamato enough to stick around.
Zyouhger Episode 1 Comments
- Wow factor is big. It’s so easy to dismiss the series but it’s definitely good. It’s also one of those series that you watch and gravitate towards because of the cute factor.
- The Deathgaliens are interesting villains because they don’t want Earth as a resource for their empire. Much like the Yautjas aka Predators, they use Earth as hunting ground or arena. This is their 100th planet to use so they think Earth is a great place with tons of cannon fodder to kill. And yes, these guys are plenty deadly.
- Generic pilot trope dictates the series to have little development for the characters but you can see that its got promise. Lots and lots. Yamato played by Masaki Nakao is also a great lead and definitely looks good enough to get female fans.
- Leo and Tusk follow the same but I think they were purposefully downplayed to make Nakao look cooler onscreen. Thumbs up for Leo’s garb too.
- While we hardly see Sela and Amu in their human form, the few precious seconds already sparks a waifu competition. Up until this review, I still can’t figure who this site considers as the FanboySEO Waifu. TBH, we are geared towards Sela the Shark-girl.
- The mech doesn’t look pleasing when it was shown online but as you see it’s design and during the fight scenes, its got some pleasing aesthetics. It sucks though that only the Eagle, Shark and Lion get to join in this episode.
