Ninja, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, is one of the world’s biggest Fortnite streamers on Twitch. Those words alone are surprising, as he rose to prominence with the streaming platform Twitch. His new platform will carry the same stuff and functions and in a way is a marketing strategy to take out Twitch users and convince them to try the Microsoft-owned streaming service.
Blevins, a former Halo pro player, has amassed over 14 million followers on Twitch (with many more on YouTube and other social media services), and Microsoft will clearly be hoping that a good chunk of them make the jump to Mixer – which has struggled to compete against the likes of Twitch and YouTube – along with the star.
As promised, nothing will change in terms of style and content only the platform where you can watch him play Fortnite. No word yet on how much he made by becoming one of the first Mixer exclusive talents.
My how far this guy has gone. I remember when he was just streaming and now he’s this million-dollar streamer, probably living the good life too.
