Enchanted Kingdom’s AGILA: The EKsperience lauded by Gov’t and Private Sectors
Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Jan. 8, 2017 – AGILA: The EKsperience, the newly-opened landmark attraction of the country’s premiere theme park Enchanted Kingdom, has been well-received and applauded by no less than the leaders and officials of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The AGILA flying theater, the first of its kind in the country and arguably the largest one in the world today, showcases a breathtaking lineup of Philippine tourist spots as seen through the eyes of the Philippine Eagle. Director Rebecca V. Labit of the Dept. of Tourism Region 4-A lauded the pioneering spirit of Enchanted Kingdom’s (EK) CEO and President Mario O. Mamon and COO Cynthia R. Mamon for building a new source of national pride.
AGILA is the only Filipino-themed attraction of this scale and magnitude, symbolizing EK’s commitment to promote the best of the Philippines through its destinations, culture and biodiversity. Its fascinating nature story uses brilliant aerial cinematography that captures a most vivid montage of 20 breathtaking locations from Batanes to Cagayan de Oro.
It was a proud moment indeed for the representatives of the different DOT regional offices who cheered upon seeing their respective tourist attractions flashed on the enormous 544-square meter theater screen. PHILTOA (Philippine Tourism Operators Association) President Cesar Cruz waspart of the special AGILA: The EKsperience screening and described the attraction as “beautiful and world-class.” He congratulated EK for pioneering another milestone in Philippine tourism.
Jim Pattison Jr., owner of Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Entertainment was likewise present, and during his visit, he said, “When you’re in the entertainment industry, the biggest gift that we can get is if we can get emotion from our guests; and that pride AGILA gets all of the emotions for the family, from the children to the grandparents. Everybody could come, but it is also very special for the Philippines, because many Filipinos don’t get the chance to see the rest of the country and for the schoolchildren, it’s going to be amazing.”
The Pugad Souvenir Area, which supports the Go Lokal initiative of the DTI, is another source of pride and delight for the visitors. It features and sells all Philippine-made products handcrafted by artisan groups from different parts of the country, including woven mats from Basey, Samar and shoes and bags made from original fabrics from the Mindanao region. The Pugad Store is EK’s way of promoting local artistry and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the countryside. Pugad was the fruition of a joint partnership between the Government and the Private Sector, says DTI Industry Promotion Group Undersecretary Nora Terrado, who recalls EK COO Cynthia Mamon as the first female leader who approached her about getting involved with Go Lokal. “In her own way, she showed how entrepreneurship can help create more jobs.”
Agila, EK’s remarkable attraction, soars with simulated adventure travel that instills an appreciation for nature and its conservation, immersive learning, and love for country—all packed in one unique magical attraction that is proudly Filipino.
