Alyas Robin Hood Unleashes Pirated Heatwave and Deathstroke
Talk about scoring three for three for the GMA-7 Alyas Robin Hood and their controversial ripping off of the CW show Arrow. The show debuted this week and we’ve already seen the pirated version of Heatwave and Deathstroke.
So start this week with this cringe-worthy video that got passed around online and with the pirated Heatwave in this clip they actually posted on Youtube.
And yes, you are not seeing this, that is indeed a water gun that spews fire ala Heatwave’s gun from the CW series The Flash. Here’s what it looks like in still photo form:
A couple of icky stuff from this TV ripoff, what’s up with manong tricycle driver “dancing” to some hiphop beats, said tricycle driver doing some tricks while playing “chicken” with an SUV driven by our pirated Heatwave, who was trying to get his Model 0-2 Flamethrower. Those nonsensical fight moves.
I now realize that there are ton of shitty stuff found in this video alone. And its not even an entire episode.
Now we go on over to the introduction of a “new and original” character that they did not steal from Arrow or rip-off from DC Comics, Deathstroke.
Long-time readers of this blog has a fair idea on who Deathstroke is. But for the sake of those who are doesn’t read comics or follow the Arrow series, Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke the Terminator is a high-profile assassin in the DC Universe. He’s become a villain to a number of characters over the years including the Teen Titans, Green Arrow and even Batman.
He’s made the leap from comics to other forms of entertainment as well through the years including a regular “villain” spot for the defunt “Teen Titans” cartoon show where he was referred to as “Slade”.
He’s also appeared in the CW show Arrow as played by actor Manu Bennett
Lastly, Wilson is Sladed to appear in Ben Affleck’s untitled solo-Batman movie under the DC Expanded Universe where he would be played by actor Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, Spider-Man).
You guys see where I’m going with this? We’re establishing what Wilson looks like and now compare it to the what GMA is doing for the not-an-Arrow ripoff show Alyas Robin Hood.
It felt like they need to eat all the things they said before the show was released. Everything. I respect the actors and the crew who spent a lot of time and energy in making the show but I have to say that its awful. The pirated Heatwave who looks like Sakuragi was tolerable but having the iconic comedian Dennis Padilla play a guy who calls himself WILSON Chan and wear and eye-patch is just too damn obvious, courts be damned.
I’m already waiting for what the consultant/ masterplot lady is going to say on her Facebook page. Will she backtrack from her previous statements? Will she finally admit that they ripped off Arrow but that they were actually doing a parody (which would totally save them from utter embarrassment and fan rage) or will they just feign ignorance and say that this was still lifted from Public Domain characters.
