realme 14 Pro+ 5G Review – Clarity Like No Other
The perfect phone for the ultimate professionals at an insanely budget-friendly price has been dropped by realme in the form of the new realme 14 Pro+ 5G. Here’s my realme 14 Pro+ 5G Review which is available online and in stores nationwide! This smartphone is now available in flagship stores and on Tiktok for just P27,999.
Realme 14 Pro+ 5G – Design
I liked the look for this smartphone which comes in two variants namely the Suede Grey & Pearl White. My unit was a suede grey which looked sexy and elegant while going dark. Meanwhile the Pearl White version has a neat little gimmick that reveals a blue gradient when the casing is exposed to colder temperatures. It’s a nice little trick that wants you to show off the design rather than stick it inside a generic jelly case or some other type of phone casing.
The build for the realme 14 Pro+ 5G is also tactile and easy to hold and I liked the fact that while the phone is loaded (we’ll get to those features later) it still looks and feels light and slim (clocking in at just 7.9mm in thickness). The best thing about the design for the Suede Grey variants aside from its resistant to wear and stains is that its also designed to be “anti-fouling”; basically means it’s dust-free and slip-free.
The newly designed backlight is also beautiful and really highlights anything it shines it’s light on.
It’s very bright AND it also looks like the Flux Capacitor from the Back to the Future franchise.
Unparalleled Waterproofing
I’m seeing this as the ultimate compliment to the recently released realme C75 but this midrange smartphone takes it to the next level in terms of being water-resistant and more. You see the realme 14 Pro+ 5G has four IP ratings under its belt meaning it passed the standards that to actually call itself “waterproof” or shock proof. Let’s go through these IP ratings and connect them to the realme 14 Pro+ 5G.
IP69 is the highest mark that a device can get for water resistance and dust resistance. Not only that, a phone can also withstand high pressure water jets and high temperatures. In the case of the realme 14 Pro+ 5G, it can maintain its integrity for up to 15L per minute and getting sprayed at four different angles namely 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°. This also means that you can put place the smartphone in hot liquids even at around 80°C in temperature.
IP68 certification means that the phone can be submerged in water to a depth of 1.5 meters for as much as 30 minutes as long as its freshwater. It can also be dipped in washing machines and survive., IP66 certification means that it can hold against water jets like say the high pressure jets from a car wash and in everyday setting, getting splashed on.
Combine all three of these and you get a very tough smartphone that also looks gorgeous. That’s the realme 14 Pro+ 5G for you.
Camera – Main Camera
The realme 14 Pro+ 5G comes with a triple camera setup which includes:
- 50MP Sony IMX896 OIS Camera
- 50MP Sony IMX882 3x Periscope Camera
- 8MP Sony IMX355 Wide Angle Camera
Let’s break down each camera and see where they fit the lifestyle of an active individual
The OIS camera is your go-to camera on this new smartphone. It works well in good and poor lighting conditions but it really does shine when it comes to shooting your subjects in an area that’s poorly lit and when the OIS setup kicks in you can also expect clearer photos because THAT system reduces blurs and shaky shots. So it’s ideal when you’re traveling outdoors like hiking or trekking and even going to places like rivers.
Meanwhile the Periscope camera gives you 3X zoom options so you get clear shots even when your further away from the subject. Comes in handy when attending events or when you want to take pictures during your outdoor adventures.
But if you’re jam is more of taking landscape photos or just doing wide angle shots then the 8MP Sony IMX355 camera will do the trick. Here are a few samples.
The LED lights also help in providing top notch night mode shots working in hand with the lens on the phone. It’s super bright and illuminates everything to get good shots even in pitch darkness. Harry Potter’s patronum charm ain’t got nothing on this flux capacitor looking backlight. Here’s a sample shot.
There’s also the street mode which takes care of the really long zoom that might not be available on the regular photo mode.
Other modes available on the camera are as follows:

Underwater Mode
Another important thing that needs to be discussed in this review for the 14 Pro+ 5G would have be the underwater mode. In a few button taps you are able to activate the phone’s underwater mode and take great photos. Mind you though, this can only work for freshwater like rivers or pools. Taking it to the beach and dipping it on saltwater is another thing entirely. Suffice to say, you better have good device insurance if that ever happens.
Camera Filters
This year’s filters are also somewhat unique namely Déjà vu and Retro. Déjà vu will give you that dreamy, misty vibe to your selfies and photos while retro, as the name implies, has this vintage look that’s all the rage these days.
For foodies the long running food filter is still available.

And because we live in the era of AI-supported smartphones, realme provided a lot of neat AI features for us to use. These includes:
- AI Ultra Clarity 2.0
- AI Snap Mode
- AI Eraser 2.0
- Live Photos
Performance
There are a number of notable stuff that came along with the 14 Pro+ 5G and that includes Vapor Chamber Cooling System, which has been present in some of the most recent smartphones that have been produced and marketed by realme. This time, they’ve updated the feature and made it literally and figuratively “cooler”. The device continues to maintain a cool temperature even when subjected to grueling tasks like playing Mobile Legends Bang Bang for an hour straight.
Battery
Compared to last year’s realme 13 Pro+ 5G, the realme 14 Pro+ 5G comes with a bigger battery . Given all of the functions and features we’ve already mentioned in this realme 14 Pro+ 5G Review it’s only fair that we’ll need a bigger battery so we get a 6000mAh battery for this product. Plus it also makes sense since this has an outdoorsman/ woman vibe to it so it needs to last longer or give you a few more hours worth of juice compared to other smartphones.
And as usual, you should expect to have fast charging on this smartphone. In this case, we can go from 0 to 50% charge in 23 minutes with the 80W SUPERVOOC Charge.
Also please don’t charge the phone directly after using underwater mode to lessen the chances of getting the phone to short. Remember, these are still electronic devices so additional care needs to be placed when dealing with water.
Performance, UI and UX
So far the realme 14 Pro+ 5G is a heavyweight prize fighter when it comes to performance with a Snapdragon us mobile platform as well as a big storage so you don’t have to worry too much about removing or deleting old videos and photos. It’s also the best phone to bring if you are pushing for your barkada outing and nobody’s “drawing” so to speak.
The processing power is also good as it allows lag-free multitasking.
Gaming
During the review period I tried out several games for the realme 14 Pro+ 5G including PUBG, Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero and Mobile Legends Bang Bang and it’s quite enjoyable to use. The smooth refresh rate made the games look better and the game Master function is also available which comes in handy when you want to record your gaming session.
You can also toggle the refresh rate if you feel like it’s too much or too little and also tweak the phone’s performance between Balanced Mode and GT mode.
The realme 14 Pro+ 5G is now available in realme stores and online platforms with SRP P27,999.
