realme 14 5G Review – SRP ₱17,999

Here’s my realme 14 5G review which is now available in the Philippines with the SRP of PhP 17,999 and is the brand’s gamer-centric variant, still under the realme 14 series or lineup with a little bit different specs but still with the same quality that we’ve all come to rely when it comes to realme and realme Philippines!

Design

I liked how the design of the phone echoes the messaging for the product and that’s getting Performance Beyond Limits. And nothing screams more than going beyond than anime-themed look based on mecha and super robots. This is essentially the look that the realme 14 5G wants to achieve. It’s not just the color too but also those finely detailed textured lines.

Hat tip also to realme for giving us this 7.97mm device too which is apparently .3mm thinner than the main competitor.

Display

The realme 14 5G comes with a 120Hz AMOLED 6.67″ display and its really good for gaming and streaming or even browsing social media. You’ll enjoy the 2000 Nits for peak brightness as well as 29.65% screen-to-body ratio.

The brightness is also good for whether its going to be used indoors or outdoors.

Camera

The camera is pretty OK too with a 50MP OIS AI Camera. There’s a limited range that you can shoot but that’s OK since the phone was geared more towards gaming.

AI has become an integral part of smartphones this year and almost all of them have their unique and quirky features. realme however sticks to its guns so were getting the standard AI eraser with three different options.

Front Camera

The front camera is promising albeit a little left wanting for more. We get a 16MP Selfie Camera that also uses a Sony IMX480 sensor with focal length of 23mm and 4P lens. Some of the features for the front camera includes:

Performance

The realme 14 5G is equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, that really hints of how this was gamer-centric. If you really want to get your money’s worth here be sure to get the 256GB storage that would be good for gaming as well as saving photos and videos. Multi-tasking is a breeze too as you’ll be getting 26GB ROM so you can conveniently switch between playing games or doing other stuff like social media.

Just like the realme 14 Pro+ 5G, the realme 14 5G is also waterproof. It features IP69 (protection from dust, high temperature and high-pressure water), IP68 that protects the phone from continuous water immersion give or take 30 minutes and IP66 which is still protecting the device from high pressure water.

This also features the realme UI 6.0 OS working in tandem with Android 15.

Battery

The realme 14 5G comes with a 6000mAh battery that promises (and delivers) longer play time or casual usage. It’s definitely meant for gamers though because it’s usually us that needs a long battery life as we grind or rank up in our chosen games. So since this is more than just a gaming phone but it’s very promising. With a full charge you can get around 91.5 hours of Spotify, 16.5 hours of Instagram and Facebook usage and 17.5 hours of Youtube.

The phone also comes with a 45W quick charging system via the SUPERVOOC charging system. And this comes in handy whether you use the phone as your daily driver or as you backup and games only unit. Charging from 0 to 50 can be achieved at around less than 30 minutes. Something new for the realme 14 5G is the Bypass Charging technology. This keeps usage cool while charging your phone. It also reduces overheating and power consumption.

Gaming

And now for the phone’s main point – gaming.

Thanks to the processor on the phone, you will feel a certain edge over other game-centric smartphones. The display works extremely great and its a visual treat to play games like Mobile Legends or CODM or even Honkai Star Rail. I was at first apprehensive with their promise of 10.5 hours of gameplay but it’s actually true thanks to the 6000mAh battery.

Here’s a sample of the quality of the games using the realme 14 5G.

Honestly, the 14 5G was a beast when it came to gaming. Not only did it provide good quality gaming which was also enhanced with the GT mode together with better FPS or frames per seconds and refresh rates, the actual display was just enough in terms of size to enjoy playing games especially the ones that have small texts. There’s no heating issues too thanks to the Vapor Chamber Cooling System that dissipates heat so its always cool to the touch. There was one point during the weekend that I was praying for this to heat so I’d be able to gauge the level of usage but it never came, which is a good thing folks.

The sound quality is good for gaming with the realme 14 5G thanks to the dual speakers they’ve designed into the phone. Bass might be a little off but the device CAN GET REALLY LOUD (just see the video I posted above to hear just how loud it can get).

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

realme does have a winner for gamers and casual users alike. We might not get that much when it comes to photos but for the price point its still pretty OK. It does however hit the sweet spots for gamers who want to be able to really enjoy their gaming sessions. The processor and the display continuously pushes out quality graphics while at the same time being able to switch to other stuff without any signs of lagging. The phone also has a great design particularly the mecha colorway which really stands out. Plus it also follows the other members of the realme 14 series as its waterproof and dustproof so its definitely a phone you can bring anywhere anything. Battery is also an endearing feature with 6000mAh, you can play games for a really long time.
