Ninja Turtles facing off against Godzilla in IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla
The Ninja Turtles are set to face Godzilla in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla as announced in Comic Con in the Godzilla panel!
It took awhile but this crossover is finally happening! In this crossover series from IDW Publishing and written by Tim Seeley with art by Fero Pe, we find out that the original Foot Clan were good guys and were also created to protect Japan from Kaiju aka giant monsters including the Big G himself, Godzilla. In the present Godzilla pops up once more and the Foot Clan are not prepared to deal with him plus good ol’ Shredder might have a hand in calling in the King of the Monsters. Rumor has it Shredder wants Godzilla’s DNA to empower his henchmen and bring them to their next evolution.
This also sends Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello to Japan where they have to fight – you guessed it – Godzilla.
The artist, Pe is already familiar with the TMNT with his work on 2003 TMNT x Stranger Things.
“There are maybe two or three other ideas in the entire cultural landscape that are as instantly iconic, as perfect in their clarity and conception, as the King of the Monsters and the heroes in a half-shell,” said Jake Williams, editor of the series for IDW, who had words of praise for his creative team. “Mashing them up has been a complete and utter joy. These characters are so perfectly realized that working on this comic feels like bearing witness to a natural encounter between living and breathing beings.”
