Marvel’s Empyre has their own version of the Battle of Wakanda complete with Yimambe

Marvel’s ongoing event series Empyre is revisiting some nice moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU including a famous scene from Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, particularly the Battle of Wakanda.

This happens in Empyre # 3 and Empyre # 4 all by writers Al Ewing and Dan Slott and art by Valerio Schiti.

In the story, the Cotati betrays the Avengers and the Skrull/Kree Alliance is looking to wage more war to eradicate the plant-like Cotati race for good. The Avengers and the Fantastic Four go all over the world to stop the Cotati invasion and find a way to get rid of the plant-life threatening to kill everybody.

Ben Grimm aka The Thing is sent to Wakanda to join up with Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda who are getting ready to defend the kingdom from invading Cotati warriors. Before the battle, Ben comments on what the troops are shouting.

We see Shuri and Gorilla Man some info about what that means. And that battle chant continues amidst the fight with the Cotati who apparently wants to get to Wakanda’s “Great Mound”, which has the biggest deposits of vibranium in the entire galaxy.

It’s a great page that harkens back to that scene in The Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame with the Wakandan warriors getting ready for war.

Bonus:

We also see Black Panther leading the fight in wakanda and the defenses have fallen in Empyre # 4.

And yes Black Panther swinging around the Sword of Space is truly unique.
