HONOR 400 5G Review – Upping the AI Game with 200MP Ultra-Clear AI Camera and more!

AI has become a big part of our digital lives and HONOR Philippines recognizes the need for a smartphone that can deliver great quality and convenience while at the same time embracing what AI has to offer. Enter the new HONOR 400 from HONOR. Let’s check out what makes this phone a “must have” for AI fans and consumers who want a reliable smartphone for their everyday use.

Design

The HONOR 400 5G is tightly packed but is very light as it comes in at around 184 g. Its a little small for me which isn’t a problem and I’m sure there are people who would appreciate it more. It comes in three variant colors namely Meteor Silver , Tidal Blue and Midnight Black with the Midnight Black a definite winner for sheer simplicity.

Display

The HONOR 400 5G comes with a 6.55 inch AMOLED display with a 2736×1264 resolution. The display for this smartphone is pretty good for normal users but in my case, it’s smaller than what I wanted for my daily driver. Still if you want your smartphone to be compact and light but still provide good visuals then the HONOR 400 is definitely for you. And no matter whether you’re playing games or scrolling on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter, the display is bright with the product have a total of 1.07 billion colors.

The size of the screen plus the aspect ratio (19.5:9) also has the right balance with the bezels just enough to remind you that there’s a border but not enough to spoil your viewing session.

Main Camera

The HONOR 400 main camera comes with a 200 MP camera which also has f/1.9, (wide), 1/1.4″, PDAF, OIS. It also features a 12MP depth camera with f/2.2, 112˚ (ultrawide), AF. It also features a LED flash, HDR and Panorama view. Here are sample shots using the HONOR 400 main camera…

Taking glam shots or normal shots are pretty good and its so good that you can even use the phone to take pre-nup photos like these with the phone.

The HONOR 400 is also a good pick when you want to take great landscape shots and food shots.

As you can see in the photo above, it registers all the qualities and elements in the food and even the closest to the proper color.

You’ll also enjoy the zoom capacity for the HONOR 400 which is perfect for capturing moments that may be quite a ways from you. Here are sample shots at a recent event I attended.

As for the video output, the HONOR 400 can shoot from 1080p to 4k and also comes with OIS for videos. Here’s a sample of the video quality for the HONOR 400.

Front Camera

The front camera on the other hand features a 50 MP, f/2.0, (wide) and also features HDR output. I was also impressed that for its price point you also get to shoot 4K and 1080P videos. Here are some selfie shots using the selfie camera.

AI Features

The biggest feature that I enjoyed and you’ll also enjoy would be the various AI features for the HONOR 400.

AI Image to Video

The top tier (and most enjoyable) feature is the Image to Video function where you pick out an image that you want to animate and generate an AI video to see it move.

2025 has been loaded with a lot of AI erasers for various smartphones and HONOR isn’t an exception. What is nice about the AI Eraser for this smartphone is that it’s more refined and erases elements better.

AI Cutout

The HONOR 400 5G pushes what AI Imaging can do with their smarter AI cutout feature. With this you can take any image, crop it and stick it in a new background. Check out sample below:

Between this and AI Image to video, I totally enjoyed this a little bit more. I mean think of the memes you can do and the fun images you can make and share on social media.

AI Outpainting

In case you also want to enhance your landscape shots like when you travel out of town and have photos that kind of feel “bitin” , you can use the HONOR 400 5G AI Outpainting. To sum it up takes a smaller image and turns it bigger in scale. Here’s an example:

Battery

For such a small package the HONOR 400 5G comes with a lot of power especially when it comes to its battery. The phone has a 6000mAh battery with quick charging up to 45W. The energy preservation on this is something entirely.

UI and UX

The HONOR 400 5G is running on Android 15 concurrently with MagicOS version 9.0. The phone does flow smoothly thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 which provides optimum performance for gaming, social media posting and usage and streaming.

There’s also two options to get apps on the phone namely through the HONOR App Market and the usual Google Play Store.

Final Thoughts

The HONOR 400 5G is definitely packed to the brim with features for an astoundingly low price of Php 22,999 (24GB + 512GB). Its truly #YourAIPhone with a lot of new and trending AI features with the most popular being the Image to Video AI feature. It is definitely worth getting for people who are heavy on using phone for photos and videos and who want to stretch it further. The camera quality is also exceptional with vivid colors and high quality. The phone is also stylish with the black color but the other variants are also worth getting.
