DC K.O.: Superman vs Captain Atom # 1 Spoilers

Spoilers for DC K.O. Special – Superman vs Captain Atom # 1 which is part of DC Comics‘ All Fight Month written by Joshua Williamson and art Sean Izaakse and more!

More details after the cut

One of the first fights that happens after that brutal event in DC KO # 2 was a bit of continuation of the beef between Superman and Captain Atom. In the first round of the fight, Captain Atom uses a classic trick that we also saw him use in an episode of “Justice League Unlimited”. He uses kryptonite on one hand and red sun energy on the other hand.

Not only does he pummel Superman, he kicks Superman’s ass with this move, even disintegrating the Man of Steel which ends the round.

The Heart brings Superman back to life and makes them choose any form that they want.

On the background for Captain Atom we have his first appearance look and even that Armageddon look while the Superman versions that are offered to Clark Kent includes his Kingdom Come version with the Red and Black S, Superman Blue from the 90s and even the Justice Lords version of Superman from the animated Justice League series.

The two however choose, some pretty strong versions.

Superman chooses to become Superman Prime from the 853rd century while Captain Atom becomes Monarch, the powerful villain of time and space.

With his powers, Superman freezes the sun with Monarch in the area working on the theory that atoms can be slowed down with the right temperature and energy. This gives Superman the second round.

For the third round, more versions are offered and Captain Atom decides to take ALL of the versions to ensure that he wins against Superman. You can see he even used up Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen to power up. Meanwhile Superman returns to his original form for Round 3. When the fight begins Atom beats up Superman badly and even wipes out his own past, with the idea of being free from his own destiny and probably beat up Darkseid.

What Monarch/ Captain Atom wasn’t expecting was having Superman glean off and get some of his powers turning him into a Captain Atom/ Superman hybrid ready to continue the fight.

Superman uses the same strategy that Captain Atom used on him and absorbing most of his powers until he’s weak enough for the Last Son of Krypton to rip his metallic skin which makes him go boom!
