Nokia C20 Review
Here’s my Nokia C20 review which is now available in stores and through shopping platforms like Shopee and Lazada with retail price PHP 4,690
The Nokia is one of the entry level smartphones that covers all the basics and then some with such a nifty price tag and readily available on Shopee and Lazada.
So for starters let’s look at what’s inside the box:
When you pop open the box you should expect a number of things:
- The Nokia C20 unit
- the external battery
- the gel protector
- 1 pair of earphones
- 1 USB type-B cable
- Wall charger
- Instruction Manual
- Warranty
Not really surprised but still taken aback that the smartphone is using an older USB type for charging and external connections.
Still its a nice notion to pack in a complete charging set for the phone. It says how much Nokia and HMD Global still cares for their consumers.
God it also takes me back to the simple days of mobile phones when all we cared is the battery as well as the backlights on our 3310 or 3210. Now its the latest model of this or the latest update for that. And no I am not doing the “old man shouting at clouds” bit. Just adding this sentiment because the Nokia C20 also features an actual detachable battery!!!
The one where you had to actually put it on the phone’s back to actually make it work. That’s so Nokia to do this considering there are some phones in the market that has their name and does a unibody approach. This budget-friendly smartphone just pretty much stuck to its guns.
Also a bit of heads up, it can be tricky putting the battery especially if, like me you haven’t done it for more than a decade. It’s such a nostalgia trip “building up” this unit. And like our favorite 3310, you have to look for this notch on the side of the phone for you to open the flap.
Pro-tip- its on the bottom-right hand side of the smartphone. Below you’ll see what it looks like without the battery and the two cameras. I also put the battery beside the smartphone so you’ll have a clear idea on how big the C20’s battery is.
Now when you open the phone’s back side, you just have to slip on the battery as seen below…
Close the lid and start the smartphone.
In terms of performance, for the price tag, its pretty ok. You get a 6.5 inch High Def display with a V-Notch (blergh) which has pretty decent display. It also features an Android 11 (Go Edition) which could take awhile to load up and kind of inconvenient.
Camera
The camera for the Nokia C20 both the main and the front camera, are at the very least good. You just have to manage your expectation. This is after al just 5 megapixels both. Selfies are a little saturated in terms of colors but that’s totally fine.
And we also did a nice comparison with the rear camera quality when doing mobile photography…
Here’s a sample shot using the Nokia C20…
And here’s a shot of dear old Deathstroke using the TCL 10 5G
