Nescafe Called out for Tone Deaf Post about workers
The Nescafe brand has been in the public’s eye since yesterday for what many call a “tone deaf” ad piece they ran on social media. This was a trending story on Facebook since yesterday especially after the alleged reaction by the brand on the matter.
So above is the original story and original post about one of the many warehouse employees working for Nestle and Nescafe. Apparently, the story here is that the worker walks to work everyday since the Extended Community Quarantine passed down by the government to slow down the spread of the dreaded COVID-19. The people who picked up the story and posted this stated that there was never any thought about the welfare of workers like Patrick.
This was where the brand was called out for being insensitive and using the plight of their employees. If you read the copy and text, you’ll never even hear the brand mention their way of helping the employee. They pretty much just featured the guy and his plight.
This is of course what people picked up on and were subsequently angry about.
I learned later that the original post has been deleted by the managers and handlers of the Nescafe social media team. And I’m told that comments were allegedly deleted or hidden especially those that are negative or criticizing the content.
