EXCLUSIVE: #TeamFanboy Meets Kpop Group Apink for MTV Music Evolution ’16
We sent over our contributor Zack Tolosa to cover the recently concluded MTV Music Evolution 2016 at MOA as well as to get a chance to meet with Kpop darlings Apink.
MTV Music Evolution 2016 was back in Manila last Friday, June 24, 2016, at the MOA Concert Grounds in Pasay. MTV collaborated once again with the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board to bring more music and fun in the Philippines. This was the second year that the award-winning was held here in the Philippines. Last year’s MTV Music Evolution was centered on Hip-hop music, featuring both local and international Hip-hop acts like Abra, Gloc-9, APL.DE.AP, etc. This year’s show on the other hand was centered on Dance-Pop music so they brought big names in the Pop music industry such as Bebe Rexha, Gary and Gab Valenciano, Far East movement, JaDine, One Republic, and of course one of Korea’s best girl groups, Apink!
Apink is a top K-pop girl group consisting of Naeun, Eunji, Chorong, Hayoung, Bomi and Namjoo and has been active in the K-pop scene since 2011. It was the girls’ very first time here in the Philippines and they were very enthusiastic to meet their Filipino Pink Pandas who have been waiting for them for a long time.
During the press conference the girls answered questions about their first visit to the Philippines, their music, their highly-anticipated new album, and their upcoming reality show.
Apink’s leader, Chorong revealed that fans may have to wait a bit more because they are working on a lot of songs for their new album that is to be released before their next concert in Korea. When asked for more information about their comeback, Eunji said that they are not sure about everything yet and whether they could reveal more about it. Although she assured everyone that they are doing their best to finish the album as soon as possible. She also said that they are doing a lot for the title and track and she is sure everyone would love the songs.
The girls were then asked about their upcoming reality show that was announced recently; a show where each member will be travelling to different countries to do extreme adventure challenges.
Since not all of the members have finished their filming yet, they were asked if the Philippines would be part of the list of countries they would visit for filming. Unfortunately the Philippines isn’t part of their list but Bomi assured that they would want to visit the Philippines on another opportunity.
Apink expressed how honored they are to be invited by MTV as the only representative for K-pop on this year’s MTV Music Evolution.
Naeun expressed her gratitude towards the many fans who came to see them on their first time in the Philippines.
Because of other schedules that day (one-on-one interviews, Facebook Live interaction, meet and greet, etc.) the girls weren’t able to accommodate more questions on the presscon.
The majority of the crowd who filled up the show venue that night were Apink fans. The legion of Pinoy Pink Pandas were clearly the loudest and wildest; they really made sure to give the best cheers, screams and goosebumps-inducing fanchants for Apink.
Apink performed five songs on the show: “Attracted to You”, “Luv”, “Remember”, “NoNoNo” and “Mr.Chu”. Although they were only able to be on stage for around 20 minutes, the girls enthusiastically performed for their Pinoy Pink Pandas. They connected well with the audience and looked like they were enjoying every moment on stage. It was truly a dream come true and night to remember for every Pink Panda.
Because of their successful Manila debut performance, could we be expecting an Apink concert or fanmeeting in Manila real soon?
Apink’s official fanclub here in the Philippines are reportedly working on bringing back Apink here and they need all the help and support of the fans to do so.
So Pink Pandas, let’s keep on supporting Apink and hopefully we could see them again real soon!
