Tom King Teases Phantasm for Batman Catwoman Run
Batman writer Tom King posted a new promotional image for the upcoming Batman/Catwoman book featuring a familiar character to Batman: The Animated Series fans, the villain known as Phantasm.
In the poster, we see the original covee featuring Batman and Catwoman together reflected onto the claw of the villainess. Check that artwork below done by artist Clay Mann.
All I can say is “Finally”.
The character has been around for more than a decade already and hasn’t been brought in officially as a member of Batman’s Rogues Gallery.
In Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the character under the hood was Andrea Beaumont, Bruce Wayne’s ex-fiancee. She dons the costume after her father was killed by the mafia. Her path of vengeance leads her back to Bruce Wayne and Batman in Gotham City.
In the clip above, you also get to see the interaction between a young Bruce Wayne and Jack Napier, the future Joker before he gets his chemical bath.
Phantasm also made made an appearance in Justice League Unlimited where she was assigned by Amanda Waller to kill Batman Beyond’s Terry McGinnis’ parents. She didn’t push through with the murder that would have orphaned Terry and made for the new Batman.
Catch Phantasm and Batman and Catwoman in January 2020 from DC Comics!
