White Banana Beach Siargao Goes Viral After Influencer Post – Do They Make Sense?
A beach resort in Siargao made waves yesterday after their post went viral regarding influencers and the current trend of doing staycations for free.
In their post the page announced that they are not interested in collaborating with influencers. They then went and suggested to get work. Also suggested to find another way of getting things for free.
Today, they did another social media posting where they kinda backtracked on their previous statement.
They seem to have doubled back on their previous statements regarding influencers, some of which they have worked in the past.
They also ended their statement by saying that “real” influencers won’t really need them, and that they (White Banana Beach) needs them more.
So, quick fire…
They had a valid argument. There are a lot of people who jumped into the social media scene with the intention of getting all the good stuff. They go on as to buy likes on Instagram or Facebook.
Pero hey, if it puts food on the table then by all means. As long as meet the deliverables that the brand or the place is looking for. Also this would mean that they translate to sales or money for the paying party.
Still, this was a slap to the hardworking influencers (and believe me, there’s a ton of them). It’s like saying they are not doing anything. Puro pa-sarap so to speak. Sure, it looks easy but there’s a lot that comes along with it.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Leave a comment below.
