Godzilla Minus One sequel announced and officially titled Godzilla Minus Zero
It’s Godzilla Day today and to celebrate the Big G’s anniversary, Toho Studios has announced that Godzilla Minus One will have a sequel and they already have an official title for it – Godzilla Minus Zero.

According to reports, Godzilla Minus Zero (also styled Godzilla -0.0) will also bring back Takashi Yamazaki, the Oscar-winning director and VFX supervisor who helmed the first movie. At the special Godzilla Day 2025 event held in Tokyo, Japan, fans in attendance gathered to see the film’s teaser logo and artwork which follows the theme of the first film.

Reports have suggested that the film is not just going to be a sequel but a cornerstone for future Godzilla projects with Toho and Yamazaki eyeing a 2026 global release. The film is also set for production in New Zealand and Norway later this year. While the full cast and creative team has not yet been announced, we can be certain that there will be two characters who will return including Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi Shikishima, the former Kamikaze pilot who took down Godzilla in the film’s climatic battle using an experimental fighter plane. Then there’s Minami Hamabe as Noriko Ōishi, Koichi’s girlfriend who also survived Godzilla’s brutal attack but has also somehow been infected by Godzilla’s cells at the end of the film.
