As you can see they are already teasing a suprise writer for issue 34 and probably all the way to issue 36. And that’s where the rumor springs that Bendis is returning to the Avengers books. While his later works may not be as great as when he started with, we do know that he contributed A LOT for the title. For starters, he kicked off with Avengers Disassembled which killed off a few key members, destroyed the Avengers Mansion, broke down the Scarlet Witch and turned her into a sort of villain.

He then went ahead with starting a new Avengers team called the New Avengers with Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman and later Captain Marvel and The Sentry.

Bendis also introduced the Illuminati on the road to Civil War which also stemmed other big Marvel events…

Split the Avengers into the New Avengers and the Mighty Avengers…

He also led the Avengers into their paranoia-filled era on the road to Secret Invasion, with the reveal that Spider-Woman was a Skrull who perished at the hands of Elektra in Japan.

Anyway, this continues for a long while until he eventually left the book to start over with the X-Men books before finally departing for DC Comics starting with the Man of Steel limited series.
