HONOR X7d REVIEW – All Angle Water Resistant Smartphone for just SRP P9,999
Here’s my HONOR X7d review which features 50MP main camera, all angle water resistance and more with SRP of PhP 9,999!

HONOR Philippines gives us an updated model for their water-proof smartphone under the HONOR X7 line with the HONOR X7d and it does have some neat new upgrades.
Display

For a mid-range phone, I liked the quality of the HONOR X7d which comes with a 6.77 LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate, a 20:9 aspect ration, 720x 1610 resolution and with a standard tempered glass with Mohs Level 4.
As you can see above we’re also getting a 86.0% screen-to-body ratio which is definitely a decent screen for scrolling or gaming.

And here’s a comparison of display sizes between the HONOR X7d and the HONOR 400 Pro 5G…

And here’s a sample of the brightness for the phone. So far, I did enjoy playing games and watching videos using the bigger screen that the X7d provides. The hue and contrast are OK but there were some moments when the colors could have given more definition especially when playing mobile games.

Design

The HONOR X7d continues with a good design starting off with three variants for you to choose from namely the Velvet Black, Ocean Cyan, and Desert Gold.In my case, the review unit I got was the Desert Gold which really highlights the beauty of the design for the X7d.
Check out the look and vibe of the two variants below:
The power button is also where the fingerprint scanner is, so there’s no on-screen fingerprint scanning happening with this phone. Still, the reaction time is faster than the average Android phone which is a good thing.

Also included in the design is this AI Button found on the left side of the phone which sticks out like a sore thumb and is relatively useful. If this were other phones, I would have frowned on this but the design of the AI button comes in handy.

The AI Smart button will give you a quicker access to your favorite or preferred apps that are installed on the phone when holding it down. A quick press of the AI button however will give you options to very generic apps that’s more commonly used like:
- Cleanup
- My Day
- Screenshot
- Flashlight
- Calculator
- Note
Believe me this really comes in handy especially when you need something whether its a figure or some notes that you left behind without having to fumble through the entire phone.
Camera
The HONOR X7D camera comes with a 108MP, main camera that features f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.67″, 0.64µm, PDAF AND a 2MP f/2.4, (depth) secondary camera. It also comes with an LED Flash and HDR functions.

The water-resistant aspect is pretty good and we actually brought it to a beach resort in Cavite which also coincides with the launch of the HONOR X7d. The phone was used for a number of activities and I took it an extra step by actually using the phone to record some of the games and water activities, just to show how water-resistant and even shockproof it really is!
I’m also impressed with the phone’s night mode. Here are some sample shots using the HONOR X7d..
Selfies are also pretty solid with the 8MP selfie camera

But it’s hit-or-miss when using at night. It really depends on the lighting around you, the work around though is using Night mode (see photos above).
UI and UX

The HONOR X7d comes with the MagicOS 9 working with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor. It’s good enough for your basic mobile functions and with the price point of the X7d, I’d say that’s pretty good. Memory and storage shouldn’t be a thing here as it has 8GB Ram and 512GB Internal Storage.
There are also a number of AI functions for the unit including AI Eraser (that removes unwanted things in your photo), AI Outpainting in case you want to expand the surroundings of your portrait image and lastly, the new AI Eyes Open that lets the AI manipulate the image where the subject has their eyes closed.
Battery and Charging

One of the bigger highlights for the HONOR X7d would be it’s battery which is a whopping 6500mAh Double-Cell Battery that’s obviously built for efficiency. Yes, you read that right, they put in dual cell batteries instead of a single one making energy consumption better and longer. HONOR Philippines even claims that battery is designed to last beyond 5 years of heavy to moderate usage, making it a good investment for buyers who are on a budget but want heavy duty use.
Charging is also supercharged with up to 35W fast charging and you give it a little extra boost with just a tap of a button…

Gaming

For gaming, the output for the HONOR X7d is pretty standard. Most of the popular games also work well in this under medium settings. I’d advice not to crank it to ulta performance as it’s not designed to run games on higher settings. As an added bonus, the size of the display is also perfect for MOBA and RPG games. So for this aspect, this phone gets a thumbs up.
