nubia Music Pro Review – Promising music focused phone on a friendly P4299 budget
If you’re looking for a sturdy and decent smartphone that won’t jump beyond P10,000 but still hits the marks on stuff we need for our digital lives but also caters more towards music-lovers then this nubia Music Pro review will help you understand why you need this phone even as your backup.

Design

The nubia Music Pro comes with your standard unibody back with a fresh and funky colorway of red, white, yellow and blue that stands out in a sea of monotone colors. I give this additional points in my review for making an effort to be different. Plus the speaker on the product is also humungous compared to other smartphones on the same price range.

Its through this design and colorway that the power button also suddenly pops and follows the design with it’s deep red cover.

Overall, the design is pretty standard that’s to be expected with any new smartphone that’s been released in 2024 / 2025.
Display

The phone’s display was pretty OK with a 6.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD Display (720 x 1600 Pixels, 262 ppi) with 20:9 Aspect Ratio, 120Hz Refresh Rate and punch-hole camera. It’s serviceable enough and provides you with what you need i.e. scrolling through social media, taking calls or streaming movies or playing mobile games. Refresh rate is also OK

Camera

The nubia Music Pro features a dual camera setup with a 50MP Main Camera (f/1.8 Aperture, Autofocus), Decorative auxiliary lens with LED Flash and Up to 1080p video recording. Here are some sample shots using the main camera:

Here’s a sample for the phone’s telephoto, however, you can only go so much with the lens. However when you need it in a pinch, the zoom is very serviceable.

Meanwhile the front camera comes with a 5 Megapixels (f/2.4 Aperture) and can record 720p videos. At 5MP you’ll get standard selfies on both the normal and the portrait mode. The portrait mode does have a little bit more quality and details but the bokeh effect needs some improvements.
Music and Audio
Of course this wouldn’t be a review for a device called a “Music Pro” and there are a number of neat things that have been loaded into the nubia Music Pro. The phone has four main features that you can use to customize and maximize the phone.

You can also customize the headphone type whether its earbuds, over ear headphone or external speakers. But the default is smart selection and let the device decide for you.

You can also choose the settings for the smartphone for whatever you will be using it for. Choose “Music” and you get fuller and more detailed sound effects including the bass and treble. Hip-hop beats gets more emphasis on this mode.
Meanwhile when you go for “Movie” movie, the nubia Music Pro will turn into a small soundbar so to speak where you can expect solid and clearer audio that’s perfect for listening in on dialogues as well as special sound effects i.e. those iconic laser blasts in the Star Wars movies.
Lastly, the game mode widens the music and puts priority on the bass. It’s perfect whether you’re playing Mobile Legends or some heavier stuff like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile. This one I also enjoyed besides the music feature.

The appeal doesn’t end there as there’s also something that might be interesting for audiophiles as you can toggle between a 2.1 channel or a 2.0 channel which will really depend on your needs or in the situation. I prefer to just sticking with the 2.1 channel setting but still, it’s up to you on what setting you’ll use.
There’s also one fun thing you may or may not notice when playing tunes on the nubia Music Pro and that’s that little light panel beside the speaker at the back that lights up in synch with the tunes you’re playing. It’s incredibly fun and it also reminds us that this phone is still attuned to music and music-lovers.

UI and UX

The phone runs on a slightly dated Android 14 with MyOS 14 running side-by-side with it. So while on paper it may be a little icky, when you actually use the phone, you’ll barely feel the difference. There are some odd things that are missing but it’s still very very fun to use. The phone also features an Octa Core CPU with 2x Cortex-A75 @ 1.6GHz + 6x Cortex-A55 @ 1.6GHz and also performs OK with the Mali-G57 GPU.
The storage might be an issue for some because it has a 128GB storage but that gets easily solved with the expandable memory card that can work up to 1TB.
To wrap up this nubia Music Pro review, here are some of the PROS for the phone:
- Great price point
- Fun and quirky design
- Surprisingly OK camera
- Music focus including the 600% music volume is an audiophile’s dream
