OPPO Reno14 5G Review – One of 2025’s Top Phones

Here’s my OPPO Reno14 5G Review which is now available in stores featuring triple camera 50MP main camera, 12GB + 512GB, 6.59 AMOLED Display and more!

OPPO Reno14 5G Unboxing

Design

The OPPO Reno14 5G continues what OPPO’s been doing for a long while now and that is focusing on that premium look and feel for the designs on their phones. The glass back provides that extra delicate look while hiding that “beast mode” in terms of durability and performance. I love the color gradient that it has giving off this elegant aura about it plus that glowing flower effect might not be your cup of tea initially but I swear to the gods it will grow on you.

Display

You’ll definitely enjoy the OPPO Reno14 5G which comes with a 6.59 inches AMOLED display with 93.4% screen ratio and 1256x 2760 resolution. The screen is big enough to enjoy Youtube videos or games or even just casually scrolling on your preferred social media. You can also bet that your phone is protected as it comes with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 7i, making sure you won’t get scratches on your phone.

You’ll also enjoy the refresh rate which could go as high as 120Hz but you can also save power and lower the refresh rate down to 60Hz or 90Hz.

For colors and vibes, the Reno14 is more towards the colorful rather than the “play safe”. For Color Gamut you’ll have 100% DCI-P3  for Natural mode, Pro mode and Vivid mode.  Going outdoors and using the phone under direct sunlight gets standard brightness with the normal brightness being 600nits while HBM is 1200nits!

Camera

The OPPO Reno14 5G comes with a triple camera system that promises to provide great shots whether its under direct sunlight outdoors or even in low light settings. The camera system consists of

• 50mp main camera – sony sensor IMX882
• Ultra Wide Camera with AF
• 50mp 3.5x telephoto camera (3.5x optical zoom)

The 50MP main camera delivers above and beyond providing you with great shots indoor or outdoor and with whatever lighting condition.

Standard shots are pretty good but I’m more impressed with the 3.5x telephoto camera that this phone has. Here’s a sample of what the zoom can do for you…

Underwater Camera is back

The OPPO Reno14 brought back the underwater mode and this time, its better. Yes you get to shoot photos underwater but now the picture quality is twice as good, the colors are more pronounced too. And you can also expect the same high quality images at night time.

What I’m trying to tell you is that your night swimming or team building in Pansol is covered thanks to the OPPO Reno14.

Front Camera and Selfies

You also get a solid front camera in the newest iteration of the Reno series which comes with a 50MP lens with, f/2.0, FOV 90° as well as a 5P lens additional lens. Here are some sample selfies using the front camera.

The image quality and renders are great as it does handle the colors really well.

Brand New AI Functions

Some of the AI features from past iterations of the Reno have made it back for the Reno14 5G and there were also some new and fun ones that can help push you become the ultimate content creator or just somebody to be fun to have photos with in parties.

AI Editor 2.0

AI editor returns with a bit more “oomph” with the OPPO Reno14 but it’s still generally easy to use and still has the same options to choose from when you want to remove certain elements in your photo such as the “Smart Lasso” which you can access on the phone’s Gallery app.

So you can say goodbye to unwanted people in your photo such as the one above featuring “Quezon” stars Jericho Rosales and Karylle Yuzon and that production guy who blocked the shot…

AI Perfect Shot

One new feature that will totally help me when covering events and sharing photos is the AI Perfect Shot, a function that uses AI to fix photos with bad expressions or in the case of the gallery below, my subject closed her eyes or maybe blinked at the moment I took that photo. Instead of deleting the photo, I used AI Perfect Shot to turn the “pikit to dilat” in a matter of minutes.

AI Livephoto Export

OPPO has also improved what was a good feature from the OPPO Reno13 and that’s the Livephoto. In this iteration you can use create a 3-second clip with the videos you took. You can also use a single Livephoto project and create as much as 90 high resolution still images. Check out the gallery below:

AI Enhanced 4K HDR Videos

If video is more of your thing then the OPPO Reno14 5G can also help you in that area. This smartphone can shoot ultra-clear 4K HDR videos that’s further enhanced by the AI Enhancers built into the smartphone.

AI Night Mode

One of the stellar features for the OPPO Reno 14 series 5G would be the improved Night Mode. With this the phone can easily detect low light settings to provide really good shots. I mean the images are already good so why get it ruined just because of poor lighting in the room.

The quality doesn’t diminish regardless of the zoom of the lens that you’re using. Other brands might change the output when using night mode but OPPO’s latest product stays steady.

Battery

The Reno14 5G cones with a 6000 mAh battery which exceeded my expectations especially since the device seems to use a lot of juice. A full charge however can last an entire day without charging and continuous use of mobile data. And when the need for charging arises, you can bank on the fast-charging 80W SUPERVOOC charging that lets you go from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes.

UI and UX and Performance

Smooth is how I would describe the UI and UX of the Reno14. The product runs on Android 15 concurrent with the ColorOS 15 and it doesn’t stutter at all, which is something we need for work and play.

I also love the storage that they offer for Reno14 which clocks in at 512GB which is perfect for storing a ton of videos and photos. You will need that too because of the various file sizes for photo and video output. I mean just think of the storage you’ll need when you shoot 4K videos. One or two events alone can take up half of the storage and that’s something you don’t get with other phones in the market this quarter. At least you know that storage will never be an issue with the Reno14 5G.

I also love how slick the interface is with the Reno14. It’s not a matter of lag at this point but rather how smooth your transition is especially when you’re doing some heavy multitasking and that’s something that is taken care of here in grand style with this device.

Gaming

Hands down I love how gaming is here with the OPPO Reno14 5G! The UX is smooth and fast no matter the type of game whether its action RPGs like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero or MOBAs like Mobile Legends and of course FPS like Call of Duty Mobile. The touchscreen also works extremely well in providing great swiping movements or accurate motion.

This comes in handy especially when you want to hit specific parts of the screen in the game. Past phones that I reviewed have this inherent issue where you miss your mark either because of the delay of the screen or another issue. For the Reno14, that’s visibly absent so you can go about your grind.

Genshin Impact on the OPPO Reno14

Another thing I enjoyed while playing games on the OPPO Reno14? The screen quality and the colors are really eye-popping. The brightness is also just right so you don’t have to turn it all the way up just to enjoy the game. At around the halfway point, the brightness is good to go.

Final Verdict

Honestly speaking, the Reno14 Series 5G phone has everything you need from durability to style to great photos and exceptional performance. I highly recommend this for consumers looking for a phone that’s still easy on the budget but is a beast especially for gaming and travelling.
