Ultimate Spider-Man # 11 Cover reveals a probably racebent Black Cat
We recently got a good look at the cover for Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man # 11 which was drawn by Marco Checchetto who also provides interior art based on Jonathan Hickman’s script and it certainly looks like we’ll be getting a black Black Cat antagonizing Peter Parker.
Full cover below
So while Marvel, Hickman and Checchetto haven’t said anything about this new version of Black Cat in the Ultimate Universe, it’s pretty obvious that they are swapping the character. But then again, this could be something either a completely different character who took over the mantle from Felicia Hardy, or somebody who stole the title and the costume as we’ve seen in past Amazing Spider-Man books or it could be a completely new character that Hickman created for his run.
Also I don’t see anything wrong again with the change.
I would rather think more that this could help make things more interesting in the Spider-Man book for the Ultimate Universe.
Remember also that unlike the 616 version of the character, the ultimate version is already a family man and married to Mary Jane Watson Parker. They also have kids so this thing with Peter Parker should be strictly limited to superhero and supervillain. Putting a romantic angle here will definitely piss off a lot of readers (myself included).
It’s also theorized or speculated by some that this could also be an error in coloring the character. But you know what, it’s pretty obvious that she’s black and that should be OK.
