How the Power Rangers became the Mighty Mutant Power Rangers
Here’s how the Power Rangers became the Mighty Morphin Mutant Rangers as seen in the pages of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 # 3.
More details after the cut.
In issue 3, the Rangers and the Turtles fail to stop Rita Repulsa and their invasion of the Command Center. Zordon and Alpha 5 are successful in escaping and falling into the hands of Krang with the help of Shredder who made an appearance to help the good guys.
Meanwhile in another part of the center, Casey Jones and Baxter Stockman are able to highjack the powers that helps the tap into the Morphin Grid, thereby stopping the Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles from getting their powers.
The good guys make a quick escape and when they regroup, they begin to make their next move. That’s when the two brains of the operation Billy Cranston aka the Blue Ranger and Donatello share their ideas to get some much needed power as they stop the invasion of Dimension X and Rita Repulsa’s forces.
Some time later, April O’Neal teams up with Bulk & Skull to take video footage and document what’s happening in Angel Grove. When they get into trouble, the Rangers are teleported back into the city and they begin their morphing sequence.
They even change the way they do the usual morphing because they utter the words “It’s Mutating Time”. The details from the panels aren’t clear but from what we can see below, they put on some mutagen on their power coins and did the whole transformation.
And yes, Tommy Oliver is a dragon and that is already thrice as cool. So that explains how the Power Rangers became the Mutant Power Rangers.
