3 Awesome things we saw in The Witcher IV
The Witcher IV has been officially announced and there are so many things to unpack and talk about in this new and upcoming game from CD Projekt Red.
Check out The Witcher IV trailer below
1. It’s Ciri taking over from Geralt of Rivia
It was a very logical choice to have Geralt’s daughter Ciri become the new series protagonist. For starters, she’s much younger and can bring new fight dynamics and interesting stuff to the story. Remember, she saved the world but she was also at a time prophesied to destroy it in “The Wild Hunt”. As Ciri, she doesn’t have much lore or backstory to her which is perfect for a game about a new witcher unlike her dad who’s got so much stuff that happened in the past, it could be hard to tell a straight story.
2. New weapons and new powers
As a Witcher we should be expecting some new weapons that Ciri would be using against monsters and men including this chain that she wraps around her wrist very similar to how God of War’s Kratos used his Blades of Athena from the first trilogy. Its pretty obvious also that this chain can be infused with elemental magic to further damage enemies which comes in handy for bigger foes.
Add to that the powers that she was already born with and we may be looking at some fun fights for this game.
3. Bigger moral dilemmas
As seen in the cinematic announcement trailer, it looks like we will be getting more of the big moral dilemmas and all those morally gray scenarios we’ve already dealt with in the past Witcher games. But with the way Ciri is now the protagonist, it may hit more with a gut punch because she’s a little more gentle and friendlier and compassionate than her dad Geralt. This means that missions where the possibility of a character dying is present and they do die through the narrative it’s going to hit harder than a punch in the heart.
