Netflix casts Rigo Sanchez as Monkey D Dragon for One Piece Season 2
Netflix continues to provide casting news for the upcoming One Piece Season 2 and we now officially have Rigo Sanchez as Monkey D Dragon.
Check out the official image that the Netflix One Piece facebook page shared online.
Here’s something lifted off from IMDB:
Rigo Sanchez is an actor known for Animal Kingdom (2019), Goliath (2016) , and Mc Farland USA (2015).
A clown at heart he loved making his family laugh and entertained them at family events as “Cantinflas”. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, moving from apartment to apartment every few years with his uncles, aunts, cousins, mother and two older brothers. He started sneaking out of his house at age 6 to go out and play in the streets, and in that he found a love for basketball and football. He played quarterback in high school and dreamed of making it as a professional athlete. After graduating from Ulysses S. Grant high school in 1996, he attended Valley College and continued his athletic dreams. In his second year at Valley College he met a man who would ultimately introduce him to acting.
He has worked with Oscar/Emmy award winning Directors and Actors through out his career. He got his first role as a guest star on the show “The Shield” in 2002..
And it is important that they already have a Monkey D Dragon cast because one of the next towns that Monkey D Luffy will be hitting would be Loguetown where he gets to have a rematch of sorts with Buggy the Clown as well as Alveda who Luffy also beat up as early as One Piece Season 1 Episode 1.

monkey d dragon rescues monkey d luffy from smoker in loguetown
And it also has been set up by the end of the Season 1 that they will be encountering Smoker and that Buggy has teamed up with Alveda.

Buggy and Alvida meet at the end of One Piece season 1
I also dig how Rigo Sanchez somewhat resembles series main star Inaki Godoy who plays Monkey D Luffy.
Other stars include:
- MacKenyu as Roronoa Zoro
- Emily Rudd as Nami
- Taz Skyler as Sanji
- Jacob Romero as Usopp
Other new casting news are as follows:
Two of the bigger names that have been announced for One Piece Season 2 includes David Dastmalchian as Mr 3 and Joe Manganiello as Sir Crocodile. Of course there were other stuff that One Piece fans were waiting for including the casting for Vivi and Nico Robin who was announced to be played by Lera Abova.
