Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape for the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series
British actor Paapa Essiedu is reportedly cast as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and key member in the story, Severus Snape. This is for the upcoming and still-in-development Harry Potter for HBO and its streaming service, MAX.
THR / The Hollywood Reporter reported that the part has already been offered to Paapa Essiedu although there’s no confirmation that the actor has agreed to the part. So basically, we’re still waiting to get that confirmation hopefully in the coming days.
The part of Severus Snape was originally played by the late Alan Rickman who played the part for all Harry Potter movies. According to reports, Rickman was even aware of the surprise twist that the character would be in or be involved in including being an agent of Albus Dumbledore against the Death Eaters and the still-dead-at-the-time Voldemort, or his unrequited love for Harry Potter’s mother Lilly and his equal disdain for James Potter.
