Absolute Wonder Woman concept art introduces us to Diana’s flying skeletal horse
We got some nice new Absolute Wonder Woman concept art that gives us a new look at this alternate reality Wonder Woman as well as an introduction to her flying skeletal steed.
I’m a total sucker for great armor designs and this one takes the cake for me. Not only is she armored up with something akin to Ares aka the God of War, she’s also armored up in line with what DC Comics is saying about this new spin off universe, that the heroes are the underdogs and they will need all that they get their hands on to survive and do what they do.
I am also not complaining about Diana brandishing a buster sword and swinging that around. Hopefully the Absolute Universe won’t turn her into a blood-thirsty killer because that’s already something that the Absolute Batman character is giving off based on the initial artwork that was shared online featuring the Absolute Universe Trinity.
So based off on interviews and details shared online, this new Absolute Universe will be a separate universe from the current DC Universe that we know and that it’s creation has a bit of input from the terrible Darkseid who has infused this world with some of his energy. This means that bits of Darkseid’s attitude and characteristics are inherent in this world and society. While we don’t have any visuals on that specifically its fair to think that this is a cruel world the new Justice League operates on and that forces them to take a more hardened approach to doing their superheroics.
The vibe seems darker and grittier but it’s still too early to jump into the conclusion that that will be the tone of the books under the Absolute Universe banner but it kinda feels that way.
We already know that the Absolute Superman will be a loner who has lost everything including his parents which could have some themes of isolation and loneliness which could also explain why he looks so emo.
