SDCC 2024 – Deadpool’s Daughter to take on the mantle after Marvel surprisingly kills the Merc with a Mouth

Deadpool will be killed off by Marvel as revealed in this year’s Comic Con and his daughter is set to takeover the role for a little while.

The ongoing Deadpool book by Cody Ziglar and Roge Antonio sees Deadpool falling at the hands of a new villain called Death Grip think of Iron Fist and Doctor Strange with a penchant for killing people. So when the two collide you can expect only one will survive and unfortunately for Wade Wilson it’s not him.

Here’s the synopsis for Deadpool # 7

“Deadpool is dead, long live Deadpool. Wade has fallen, and his daughter Ellie has taken up the mantle. Taskmaster continues her mercenary training, but what she really wants is vengeance. And to get that, she’ll need Princess’ help.”

And I actually like the design for Ellie’s costume as she takes over her dad’s role as the Merc with a Mouth.

And oh look we’re getting the non MCU Taskmaster working to train the would be Deadpool in combat AND Princess, Deadpool’s symbiote dog who made anime fans happy some time ago when they did this big Chainsaw Man reference.

Ziglar states that they’ll be revealing more Death Grip and how he manages to kill the unkillable Deadpool as well as a deeper look into Ellie and her role as the new Deadpool.

Honestly though, I am not a fan of killing Deadpool and replacing him with another character right as there’s massive hype for the character thanks to the release of Deadpool and Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. It’s just like the time Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness came out and Marvel killed off Stephen Strange and replaces him with Clea Strange as the new Sorcerer Supreme for a time being.
