Epson promotes responsible innovation to power a greener future for the Philippines with Epson Fusion 15

MACTAN, Cebu, Philippines, 30 May 2024 — In a world where technology and sustainability are becoming increasingly intertwined, Epson, a global leader in innovative technology, is powering the way. The tech giant re-affirmed its commitment to sustainability and announced new initiatives at the Fusion 15 “The Eco-Connection” at Shangri-La Mactan in Cebu on May 15-17.

Sustainability in every aspect

At the annual media event, Epson emphasized the importance of forming an eco-connection, which represents two key elements central to its corporate mission. First, it signifies Epson’s unwavering commitment to building a sustainable future. This involves creating eco-efficient products, adopting sustainable practices in our operations, and forming impactful partnerships and initiatives that benefit both people and the planet. The second key element is the strong bond between Epson and its partners and customers as they work together to promote sustainability.

To build a sustainable company, one must begin with its operations. Epson integrates sustainability in its day-to-day processes, such as reducing waste and emissions in manufacturing and aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Epson is also leading the way in the use of solar power. The company is the first Japanese manufacturer to transition all its global sites, including its Batangas manufacturing plant, to 100% renewable energy.

“At Epson, we have a philosophy called Sho-Sho-Sei—efficient, compact, and precise,” Masako Kusama, President and Director at Epson Philippines. “Aligned with our ‘Engineered for Good’ initiative, the core of what we do is creating products that use less energy and resources throughout their lifecycle.”

Epson is now working toward becoming carbon negative and underground resource-free by 2050. To achieve this, Epson is investing heavily in decarbonization, resource recycling, and environmental technology development, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions in their supply chain.

The company is also making strides in sustainable action through its partnership with WWF-Philippines. Joint initiatives such as the educational Panda Talks and the Mangrove Restoration Project have reinforced the importance of a shared responsibility to care for the environment.

New sustainability initiatives

Epson Philippines discussed its sustainability efforts not only in the company’s products, but also in its operations, and partnership projects.

Looking ahead, Epson is excited to further its partnership with WWF-Philippines with a new project, which aims to boost the capabilities of the A.T.E. Atelier Sewing-Recycling Art Studio in Siargao Island by providing machinery, building infrastructure, and empowering the community.

Epson also hinted at the local launch of a game-changing business inkjet printer lineup in May this year.

“These printers are designed to be eco-conscious and offer stress-free solutions for businesses,” stated Thea Austria, Epson Philippines’ Manager for Corporate Printers Group, Product Marketing Division. “With this line’s high-speed printing and scanning capabilities, compact design, and reduced environmental impact, we believe they will revolutionize the printing industry and provide businesses with reliable and efficient printing solutions.”

“At Epson, we’re not just building products, we’re building a greener tomorrow. As we celebrate 15 years of Fusion, we invite everyone to join us in this mission,” concluded Kusama. “Together, let’s save energy, make responsible choices, and create a thriving future for both people and the planet.”
