One of the perennial favorites of novice Tekken fans have been Eddy Gordo and I was a little disheartened when the initial Tekken 8 roster didn’t include Eddy but today, it’s officially announced that Eddy Gordo will be joining the roster soon.
Here’s what the caption was in the announcement video:

Tekken 8 – Eddy Gordo
Eddy’s first appearance in the Tekken franchise was in Tekken 8 joining the next generation of fighters like Jin Kazama and that batch and his been a constant figure.
Here’s most of Eddy’s story lifted from the Tekken Wiki page
Eddy was born to a one of the richest families in Brazil and was on track to inherit the family business. In Eddy’s late teens, his father was working to destroy Brazil’s drug cartel.
When Eddy was 19, he came home from school to find his father shot and dying. Eddy’s father told Eddy to falsely confess to killing him because prison would be the safest place for him now. Eddy obeyed his father’s last wish and was incarcerated.
Prison life was difficult, and Eddy hungered for revenge against his father’s killers. During a prison riot, he noticed an old man using Capoeira. Eddy became his student, becoming a Capoeira master in the eight years he trained under the old man.[4] During this time, the old man told Eddy that he had a granddaughter, and asked Eddy to pass the art of Capoeira on to her.[5]
Upon being released from prison, Eddy learned of the Mishima Zaibatsu and The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. He entered the tournament in the hopes of persuading the Zaibatsu to assist in his quest for revenge.[4]
At some point during or after the tournament, Eddy infiltrated the home of a drug boss and interrogated him over the identity of his father’s killer. The man alleged that Kazuya Mishima, the former leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu, was involved.[6] [7]
Eddy found his master’s granddaughter, Christie, shortly after The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. For two years, he taught her Capoeira as he had promised. She developed into an impressive fighter. One day, however, Eddy set off to take revenge on who he understood to be responsible for his father’s death. His disappearance prompted Christie to enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 in search of him.[5]
Eddy reunited with Christie at some point during or after the tournament. His master was released from prison; however, the old man’s health had declined. Eddy had him hospitalized and was told that his master had an incurable illness and that his life expectancy was six months. The advanced technology of the Mishima Zaibatsu was the only hope Eddy and Christie had of finding a cure. Eddy and Christie both entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 to this end.[8]
Neither Eddy nor Christie were able to win the tournament. Without informing Christie, Eddy approached Jin Kazama, the new leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and pleaded with him to save his master. Jin agreed to do so on the condition that Eddy joined Tekken Force, the Zaibatsu’s private militia. Eddy agreed to these terms and became involved in warfare across the globe on the Mishima Zaibatsu’s behalf. He entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to take out any threats to Jin.[9] Later, Jin accused Eddy’s defense of being weak due to him losing two strategic positions in the war.[10] Eddy was later confronted and defeated by Lars Alexandersson and Alisa Bosconovitch at an elite Tekken Force base.[11]
Eddy’s master died despite his efforts to save him. Eddy reunited with Christie at his burial, where she expressed her anger with him over his absence. Furious that the drastic measures he’d taken to get treatment for his master were in vain, Eddy severed ties with the Mishima Zaibatsu.[12]
At some point, Eddy opened an orphanage in Brazil. He taught the children in his care Capoeira. One day, however, he left to pursue revenge against Kazuya Mishima.[13] Eddy traveled to G Corporation’s Millenium Tower in an attempt to find Kazuya, who was ruling G Corp from the shadows. He was confronted instead by Lucky Chloe, an idol working with G Corp.
