Here’s my HONOR X7b Review which is now available in the market. This smartphone comes with a 6000mAh battery as well as 108MP main camera and 8 megapixel front camera!

Design

The HONOR X7b design follows the standard in all HONOR phones including the power button and volume controls on the right-hand side of the phone, the SIM tray on the left and the speaker, the USB Type-C port, and the headphone jack at the bottom. I for one am happy to have a phone that still has a headphone jack because it allows me to use my wired headphones lying around the house. So if you have a mom or a dad who is looking for a dependable phone that still has a headphone jack in 2024, then this is your answer right here.

It’s also nice to grip around and the plastic doesn’t feel cheap at all. Adding to this, the phone is quite thin and light weighing in at just 199 grams while thickness comes in at 8.24mm.

There are also three colors for you to choose from namely Flowing Silver, Emerald Green and Midnight Black.

Is the HONOR X7b dual SIM? Yes, it is dual SIM so you need a nano SIM for this one.

Display

The HONOR X7b features a 6.80-inch FullView LCD Display with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. For the price point I’d say it’s pretty good and even if the smartphone comes with an LCD screen, it feels solid. The refresh rate’s pretty standard too so it gives enough “scrolling” effect when you’re going through your social media. They also have this “Hyper-transmissive display” here that accentuates the color grading and the contrast for the images displayed onto the screen.

The phone also has a 2412 x 1080 resolution bringing streaming and gaming perfectly.

Other modes that make it such a treat to use in terms of display include a fancier night display they call Circadian Night Display as well as Dynamic Dimming which is in essence the auto-brightness feature dialed up to 11.

 

Camera

The HONOR X7b main camera comes with 108MP with f/1.75 aperture, a 5MP wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. For a budget phone, I was expecting less so I was totally happy when I saw the photos I took using the phone’s main camera.

 

And while there are tons of current flagships out there this quarter that boast excellent portrait photos, the HONOR X7b is one tough scrapper as it can also deliver exceptional portrait photos along with 2x zoom capabilities. When you pair it with a good focusing system, you’ll hardly remember that you’re using a mobile phone on your photos. So that makes two incredible features for an affordable price, a good camera and a battery that can last longer than normal smartphones!

Using the front camera to take selfies is good too since they built the HONOR X7b 5G with an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The photos are clear and the colors pop. Here are some sample selfies using the phone…

There’s built-in beautification filters don’t worry. Even my ugly mug got to look nice with this selfie.

The modes and functions of the camera include:

There’s a limited range of what you can do with video for both the main camera and the front camera but you can make necessary tweaks.

You can shoot with the 16:9 aspect ratio with a 1080p resolution or you can choose between 21:9 or 16:9 aspect ratio with a lowered 720p resolution. The lower the resolution the more videos you can shoot albeit in a lower res. Still the video output’s good enough for making Tiktok videos or going live on Facebook.

Oh and you can also switch the aspect ratio for photos in case you’re not aware.

Battery

The real highlight of this smartphone is the insane battery life. This phone features a 6000mAh battery that pushes the boundaries of what a phone can do within a single day. This would be the perfect phone to get for friends and family who are always on the go or the dads and titos who keep forgetting to bring their chargers or just can’t be bothered packing a power bank for their trips or commutes.

Is the HONOR X7b fast charging? Yes! I’d say it charges on an above-average capacity with its 35W HONOR SuperCharge system. It’s good enough to leave for ten to fifteen minutes charged and you’re good to go.

While I’m not usually a stickler for whatever brands say about their new phone’s battery life, I’m inclined to agree with the promises that HONOR stated for the X7b’s battery life. With a 100% charge, you get to stream music and 720p videos for 60 minutes as well as play games using mobile data for around the same time.

UI and UX

The HONOR X7b runs on Android 13 working in tandem with HONOR’s MagicOS 7.2. It might be a little dated compared to other HONOR phones out in the market but it sure does the job still.

You also know that HONOR made extra sure that this smartphone isn’t going to be a slouch since they elected to put in a good brand like Qualcomm; in this case, it’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. Yes, it might be a step back compared to the newer processor but you need to remember that this is an entry/ mid-range level smartphone. So it’s good and perfectly fine. Besides, you don’t feel any hiccups at all whether doing multiple things like running Facebook while running YouTube video in the background.

In case you’re also looking to see what it can connect to, it has the normal stuff like Wi-Fi (which is Wi-Fi 802), 5G support, Bluetooth (Bluetooth 5).

Storage

I also want to tip my hat to HONOR for giving us a budget-friendly smartphone that has big storage. This phone comes with 256GB storage and there’s not a lot of bloatware out of the box as you can see below, so you can fully maximize the phone and go crazy with photos and videos. HONOR X7b Review – Verdict

What kind of awesome creature did HONOR release into the tech wild? You get an insanely wieldy smartphone that has a 6000mAh battery with fast charging, a 108MP and 8MP rear and front camera that does a decent job of taking photos and videos with an aesthetically pleasing back end too. All of this for just under P10,000. HONOR has been good to us consumers and we definitely need to get more of this level of entry-level smartphones!
