Leading Digital Tax Hub holds International Tax and Investment Conference
Philippines’ premier tax hub for top corporations and SMEs, Asian Consulting Group (ACG), brings together CEOs from local and foreign chambers, and government leaders in the 2024 International Tax and Investment Conference (ITIC) happening on February 27 at Sheraton Manila Hotel. The event themed “Breaking Barriers in the Digital Economy” aims to promote investing and doing business in the Philippines in partnership with international organizations, the national government, and local business and foreign chambers. The conference will feature a diverse lineup of speakers and industry leaders headlined by BIR Commissioner Romeo “Jun” Lumagui Jr. and key representatives from World Bank Philippines, Anti-Red Tape Authority, Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Board of Investments, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and and International Tax and Investment Center among others.
ACG Chief Tax Advisor and Lead Convenor Mon Abrea will be joined by Conference Chair Enrique Caeg and former DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez as Vice Chair in gathering global investors, finance leaders, and policymakers to address issues on ease of doing business, tax policy and administration reforms through digital transformation, taxation in the digital economy and the adoption and implementation of OECD Pillar Two of the Philippines.
“In today’s interconnected world, understanding international tax laws and investment opportunities is more crucial than ever. By bringing together thought leaders and practitioners around the world, we hope to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration that will drive positive change in the economic industry,” imparts Abrea.
Abrea, also known as the Philippine Tax Whiz, will launch his new book titled “Why Invest in the Philippines?”– a comprehensive guide into investing or starting a business in the country, covering the basic framework of the Philippines’ business and investment landscape.
The conference also marks the kick-off of ACG’s annual campaign called the International Roadshow, which involves a roundtable discussion with foreign investors and multinational companies about the economic overview, investment opportunities, tax updates and tax incentives in the Philippines.
Following the success of the 2023’s International Tax Conference, which attracted hundreds of participants from the country’s top companies and business organizations, this year’s event promises another impactful convergence of speakers and thought leaders in the world of taxation, finance and global investment.
