vivo V27e Review – The Very Promising Aura Portrait Master

Here’s my vivo V27e review which is now on pre-order on Shopee, Lazada and vivo stores nationwide. It features 6.62″ Display, 64MP main camera and 4600mAh battery.

Design

This is a pretty standard phone that comes in three different colors namely Glory Black, Lavender Purple, Lively Green. Again I personally prefer Glory Black but you are most definitely welcome to get the other colors. My second choice would have to be Lavender Purple.

There’s no headphone jack for this one so I suggest you start bringing your bluetooth headphones.

I’m a bit bummed that its Hybrid Dual SIM rather than have three slots for SIM cards AND microSD cards. And because its a V series smartphone, you can expect to have the fingerprint scanner under the display which keeps things looking fine and functional at the same time.

Display

The vivo V27e is a great phone thanks to it’s 6.62 inch AMOLED display with 120Hz with 85.9% screen-to-body ratio. The refresh rate’s also crazy and I love how smooth it is when you scroll up or down.

I like the phone’s resolution and ratio. You get 1080x 2400 pixels for the screen with a 20:9 ratio. That’s pretty good for watching movies on your phone or playing games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang or Call of Duty Warfare!

One big thing that needs to be discussed is the refresh rate sometimes getting choppy. By that I mean it can go from 120 Hz to 60 Hz from time to time. But when that 120 Hz refresh rate is working well, you can expect super smooth scrolling and resolution.

Camera

When using the camera you can feel the AI trying to work its damnedest but that for me it felt like it sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, the phone’s camera is great with its triple camera system which features 64MP OIS main sensor with an f/1.79 aperture; a 2MP bokeh lens at f/2.4; and a 2MP macro lens at f/2.4.

But the main selling point for this release is the “Aura Portrait Algorithm”. So what is the APA?

In a nutshell, the LED light at the back fundamentally gives more light and more pizzaz to your portrait shots. Giving cleaner and crisper images in contrast to regular images taken using the main camera.

That really is the major selling point for the smartphone, the “ring light” which is totally fine. Switching to portrait mode also offers a bigger number of modes and filters to choose from.

Dont mind the subject for the shot, I just wanted to show you the different modes to choose from when on Portrait mode for the vivo v27 e

The Aura Portrait Algorithm helps brighten the subject and you can even use filters for a more artistic shot

Another neat gimmick they added for the APA / Portrait mode is the party mode that lets you make your own dancefloor / rave photo without even actually going to one.

Night mode

On the front end, the v27e’s camera is pretty stable and does a good enough job of taking photos at night with low light settings. Using the main camera has varied results but it’s just OK for me.

When you use the phone’s camera for basic photos, there’s really nothing wrong with it. Far from it actually. It does deliver good shots although the color quality’s a little oversaturated when you go on automatic mode. Check out some of the shots I took during Cosplay Carnival 2023 which happened at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia.

And here’s a sample of the video quality for the vivo V27e’s main camera

UI/UX

This smartphone runs on the latest Android 13 OS working hand in hand with vivo’s own Funtouch 13 OS. The chipset isn’t as strong but again mind the price point. The Mediatek MT8781 Helio G99 chipset is still fine when it comes to streaming, gaming and browsing apps.

Battery

The vivo V27e comes with a 4600 mAh battery with fast charging up to 66 watts and can go from 1% to 50% in 19 minutes as advertised. At 4600 you can do a lot with the smartphone and it can run to approximately 15 hours so that’s more than enough time for work and play.

Final Thoughts

The vivo V27e is built specifically for phone users who want a budget friendly smartphone with all the bells and whistles while at the same time hoping for a more gorgeous looking photos using the smartphone’s portrait mode or even just the main camera. Features wise its the same with an above average display and tactile and easy to hold design.

The vivo V27e is now out in the market and is currently priced at Php 16,990.
