Akane Shimizu work Cells at Work live-action movie announced

Good news for fans of Akane Shimizu‘s Cells at Work as its been revealed that Takeuchi Hideki of “Nodame Cantabile” and “Fly Saitama” will direct the film.

Cells at Work follows the adventures of personified parts of the body including White Blood Cells, Red Blood Cells, Platelets and more. These cells have slice of life adventures inside the human body which also includes oodles of violent moments as White Blood Cell is always out to kill pathogens and viruses while at the same time develop friendships and more!

The manga came out with a total of 6 volumes back in 2018 and 2021. It also spawned a TV animation series and stage play.

Not to mention a number of spin off series like “Working Cells BLACK”, “Working Platelet-chan”, and “Working Cells LADY”.

Takeuchi commented, “What kind of things are happening every day in the world inside the body that we can’t usually see? I would like to present the daily life of such cells on a grand scale full of laughter and learning. Since it was decided that I would be directing, I myself have become conscious of the cells in my body in my daily life.”

The film’s script will be written by Yuichi Tokunaga, who worked with Takeuchi on Tonde Saitama
