REVIEW: HONOR X7a

Here’s my HONOR X7a review which features 6.74-inch FullView LCD Display, Mediatek Helio G37, 50MP Main Camera, 8MP front camera and more for just Php 7,990 only!

Design

The phone weights at around 196 grams together with the battery which was surprising considered how “big” the battery is. It also comes in three different colors including Titanium Silver, Ocean Blue, Midnight Black.

The back’s finish is made of plastic and as usual, it’s a magnet for smudges and fingerprints. Even as careful as I was when it came to handling the phone, its still sticking there.

The fingerprint scanner is located at the side…

Display

I liked the fact that even if this was a budget friendly mid-range smartphone, they still managed to inject some premium feels to it like the 90.07% screen-to-body ratio or the 90hz screen refresh rate. It’s perfect for a casual moment to watch a Youtube video or play games.

Colors aren’t so bad either with over 16.7 million colors on a 6.74-inch Full View LCD display. Your eyes are also well protected as the phone has been certified for the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification.

Camera

The HONOR X7a features a triple camera main camera setup plus 8 megapixel front camera for selfies.

Here are some sample shots for the camera.

Here are samples of photos using the front camera (selfies included).

As you can see with the photos for the front camera, the photos are crisp and clear. You do need to tinker a bit with the focusing but otherwise it’s really good. Plus the bokeh effect is top notch as evidenced by the selfie below.

You can shoot shoot in three outputs with the HONOR X7a namely:

  • 1080p with 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 720p with 21:9 aspect ratio
  • 720p with 16:9 aspect ratio

Frame rate is locked in 30fps by the way.

Battery

The biggest selling point for me and the basis for the X7a’s marketing campaign would have to be the battery. This smartphone can do 42 hours of social media, 42 hours of audio calls, 29 hours of music, and 22 hours online video playback.

Gaming

In terms of gaming, this is also a good phone to get. So not only do you get a battery that can carry you for long periods of time even when you’re playing Mobile Legends or Pokemon Unite, you also get good performance. I also tried Genshin Impact and COD Mobile on the phone and it works ok with the occasional framerate drops but nothing out of the ordinary.

VERDICT

In closing I would recommend the HONOR X7a for the people on a budget that’s looking for a solid smartphone with a dependable camera, updated OS, UI and UX and a battery that can last up to three days of shifting between heavy to moderate use.

The HONOR X7a is now available on Shopee, Lazada and HONOR stores nationwide for just
